HBD Sunil! And thanks Vasant.
NYC was a party..the Android app showed we walked about 14.5 miles in a day...no thanks to its awesome and awful subway system. Awesome due to its robustness and vastness conceived more than 100 years ago. Awful because it is a 100 years old and has not evolved to serve a wider swathe of humanity. God forbid if you were pregnant, on wheel chair, senior or have a baby in stroller - the subway harsh on these citizenry. We had to carry Arjun, stroller and sometimes Arjun+stroller over the steep staircases. OTOH NY highway systems is super friendly for the said citizenry that the subway fails - every 30 miles there is a privately owned service area. Lush green landscape is a plus. Some hint of fall was peeping through our drive upstate towards Canada.
DC was a pleasure to walk around - lots of history and free educational stuff like performances, museums etc. One of the least expensive places to take kids to. Worst named roads that will keep you going round in circles literally! There is I street and K street. Later I found out that there is indeed no J street!! Maryland road signage was a complete disaster.
Arjun loved Niagara's roar and getting super wet in the Maid of the Mist. Could not walk over the Rainbow bridge to Canada due to paucity of time.
Met with friends and relatives and made some good memories. Was amazed to see my in-laws do all that walking despite their age and ability. Feels good to be back home and sucks to put the nose back to the grindstone from tomorrow. Sigh! Need one more week to recover.
Good night,
Arun. :)
