I have no plans for this Saturday or Sunday - so let me know if you're free and we can maybe head out to SFO or Half-Moon Bay (to that place you said) for some dinner & music.

I am also entertaining thoughts of maybe hiking Mission Peak on Sunday. Maybe...

Of course - we all define 'Bachelor Party' differently ... :)

If it is a bachelor/bachelorette only thing, I won't be able to make it to SFO whether the baby is already here (and I need to be home) or not (and I am on call).  If spouses are included, it depends on whether the baby has arrived by then, and how Sri is feeling at that time.

Shwetha & Arun - thanks for catching my counting error. Clearly the answer was to have Smriti sit in the front seat and that would have brought down our seat requirements by one right away.

With confirmations from Arun, Amit, Sudha & Mugdha (Yay!!) - looks like we're slightly (1) over the limit on my van (bummer) - so will need to add another car to the mix.

HMB works - but not sure how interesting it will be in the evening (and it will be cold + Shwetha gets car-sick on windy roads!). So - I'm changing my vote to the city just because we may get better food and music - and a variety of places to hang out at. :)   We'll go with the majority...

And, for the record, I was indeed on the East Coast for the last two days ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it ... unless you can find some photographic evidence to the contrary. Harumph.

If SFO - does anyone have bright ideas on places to go/things to do? As Mugs said, Rassela's is my usual fallback - great food & music always ... Jazz is an easy choice. OR we can go to 2-3 different places. Massive ice-creams @ Ghirardelli are always fun. There are also very interesting places to eat in the city. C'mon folks - let's get some ideas in!

Slanted door (Asian fusion) is great, Millenium (fantastic vegetarian fare) and Perbacco are also some of my favorites...these are a little more fru fru with the last two being slightly more formal. 

For a more casual set up, there is Ramblas that serves a LOT of great tapas selections for us herbivores, in addition to some great sea food small plates. Their Paella is super as well.

I am not terribly familiar with music options, so will leave that to the experts

There is this moroccan/ middle eastern place that also has belly dancing that Ive been to and cant recollect the name...

Millenium - hard to get res - but agreed - great great food - just went for our anniv - one of the 7 gifts Kartik got for the 7th yr anni :)

 

Slanted door - again VERY tough to get space - but ofcourse I could be wrong - since we lived right opp we always used to think that we can walk in any time and just wait and get a table....never could. but again - very good food....totally open to going. the vibe could be a little more relaxed than millenium.

There were very few restaurants with availability for 10 peple on Aug 2, I just did a quick search on Open table for 7pm. These were what came up when i searched, of these Bask seemed to be nice (ie - good vegetarian options also available) in terms of their menu selection considering that a lot of us in our group dont eat meat..)

We may have to head somewhere for music/ ice cream after.

Hi folks - we seem to be landing on Rassela's primarily because they also have live music. The only other place with that option seems to be Sheba's Piano Lounge ... but the seating there is more around couches and small tables and so would not work for a larger crowd like ours.

Of the 9 of us, only Mugs, Arun & I have been to Rassela's earlier. So - it will still be new for the others.

So ... unless there are other options that have good music AND dinner, we can stick to Rassela's.

After dinner+music, I was thinking we could go to Ghirardelli for dessert around 10-ish ... and then see what happens (maybe walk by the pier, drive to the other side of the Golden Gate, etc) ... I do not have a curfew ... :)

Rasellas + Ghirardelli sounds like a great plan.  I will not weigh in with a vote though given that we are not sure whether we would be able to join. If the baby decides to give us the chance, we would definitely love to join in (if we are able to come in, it will become a tradition - we all had a blast in Oakland just a few days before Mili was born).  Please include us in the numbers in any case.

I called Rasselas earlier this evening when we were at a count of 9, and cannot reach an actual person there - the restaurant asks that we leave a voice mail which I did and haven't heard back. I will call again tomorrow and ask for a revised count of 13.

I think we should try a back up option as well, in case we cant be accommodated at Rasselas. Can one of you pick something similar...family style easy going atmosphere and live music and make a reservation so we have a back up..

OK - good news. I was able to get through to Rassela's and made the reservation for 12 of us @ 8:30PM on Friday the 3rd.

They have a Blues band playing on Friday - starting @ 9PM.

Shwetha - the guy said that he got your message but there was no number for him to call back on.

Cigar Bar and Grill or Savannah Jazz...but all these places are not very good vegetarian places. 

Good thing we got Rasselas. If you think its still a good idea to make a backup plan, I can book at Yoshis.
