How do we handle lost password issues?
One of my students lost his bookshare password.
Can we do anything about this??
Thanks

I will try to answer your question as best as I can..try this to start. https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/i-forgot-my-password-how-do-i-get-new-one  enter the student's email address and Bookshare will send a link to set a new password.

Sometimes it  depends on the type of membership the student has. Is it an Organization membership through a public school system or an Individual membership where the student chose his/her own password and can select books independently? If you have access to the  membership list of an Organization account you can reset the password by going in through the membership list and find reset on the information page.  You should have at least 8 letters and a number in the password'

The other type of membership, Individual account needs to be renewed yearly if it's through an Organization.  The individual membership is obtained two ways, referral from a school system or request by a parent who must get a disability sign off sheet to Bookshare. If the student has an individual account through a public school system this account must be renewed yearly, at least that is what we are seeing in Medford. You can try emailing Bookshare to send the link to reset the password or contact the school system for whomever is in charge of Bookshare.

Go to this address for info:  https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/how-do-i-create-individual-membership-my-student  for info on an independent account.

Hi all. We’ve added a new feature this year to give teachers the ability to help students reset their individual membership passwords if their individual memberships are connected to the school account. If that is the case, the student can give permission for the teacher to manage the individual membership. You’ll find more info here:

https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/how-do-i-manage-my-students-linked-individual-membership

Basically in their preferences, students with individual memberships that are connected to organizational accounts can check a box that gives a teacher at their school permission to manage their account. Then the teacher has the ability to see the student’s individual membership user name and reset the password if necessary.

In addition, when a student upgrades their organizational membership to an individual one, that permission is given by default.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this or need more information. In addition, let us know if you think this will be helpful!
