Hi Folks: A heads up that the app beta testing began today. For those who were not part of the formal beta test, you can still test the current (rough) version of the app by downloading it from the Android Market. Just click the following link from your device browser and follow the download instructions via the browser and the Android Market.

https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Bookshare+Reader

We are tentatively calling the app the Bookshare Reader. This name is subject to change.

Feel free to share any feedback on your experience using the app, by way of this group.

We look forward to any input you may have.

Stay tuned for announcements on new and improved versions of the app.

Thanks!

Paul Lamb

Is this the same version that was downloaded for the beta? Actually, I
will probably get it from the market so it will automatically update.
By the way, found an issue after completing the beta process. When
deleting a book from the library, the app does not delete the folder
containing the book from the SD card. It is a great app though and I
would encourage everyone here to install it and give it a try.

Hello Paul,

I was able to open the app, get logged into bookshare, access all
controls, and that worked fine, but as soon as I tried to download a
bookshare book, the app locked up and I was kicked out of the app.
This happened twice. I was able to successfuly log into bookshare,
however I wasn't able to do much else with downloading books.

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Excellent! Thanks!

How different is this build from the one I tested very thoroughly on T-Mobile G2 at Benetech headquarters with engineering team a few weeks ago?

Thanks for the heads up on the problem with deleting a book. I'll pass it along to our tech team.

Hi Nimer! Sorry for the slow reply, but I just saw this. Thanks for bringing up the lock up issue. I'll pass this along and circle back regarding the formal beta testing of which you are a part.

Hi Kevin! This should be a slightly tweaked version from the one you tried. Go for it if you want to take it for a spin, or feel free to wait for a new and improved version (or both)?

It's slightly different from the one I beta tested, and several of the
things are there that I suggested, great job, keep up the great work.
