There is a lineup of some other very interesting programs that you might wish ot attend

Next weekend kicks off the 30th annual Concert of Colors, Detroit’s festival of diversity. After two years of being held virtually, the event returns to live performances, many of which will be held at the DIA. Highlights include DakhaBrakha, a world-music quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine and Karsh Kale in the DFT Auditorium, as well as performances by Alejandro Escovedo and Martha Redbone on the North Lawn. Other performances and events will be held throughout Midtown, including the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Scarab Club and the Michigan Science Center. For a full schedule of events, visit concertofcolors.com.

Start Time: 8:00 p.m.

Run Time: 90 minutes

Genre: Indian Electronica and Bollywood

The word prolific barely begins to describe Karsh Kale’s storied career. The British-born producer and multi-instrumentalist of Indian heritage has spent the last two decades zigzagging the world, headlining major festivals, and spinning records at the White House for Barack Obama. Described by Billboard Magazine as a “visionary composer and producer”, Kale has created a new genre of electronica music and culture, incorporating Indian classical music, rock, jazz and hip hop. Kale has a reputation as a world-renowned tabla player, performing with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Anoushka Shankar, Yoko Ono and Chaka Khan. He is also known globally as a cutting-edge film composer in India’s Bollywood film industry and independently produced films in the West. DIA covid protocols will apply.
