This is a classic. One of those who-dunits set in the mediavel times, in an ancient Italian monastry and the tale has all the old world charm as well as the expectation of the unfolding of the mystery at the end of it.
The story briefly is one of how an understudy comes to respect the master’s learning and powers of observation in an Italian monastry and how the master solves the mystery of murders of chief librarians and the maze, and how the library is destroyed. A great read, if you love classic tales.
Easier to read than Umberto’s other classic Foucault’s Pendulum, this book still impresses and remains in the mind long after you have finished reading it.
No doubt a 9/10
