I haven't had a lot of time to read actual books lately with all of my
internet activities. The last book that I read was Inkheart by
Cornelia Funke. My son, Tyler, read it and recommended it to me
because the story was based on people who were obsessed with books!

Yes, this book is recommended for ages 9-12 but it was a very
interesting book. Cornelia mixes real-life-like events and places with
fantasy to create a believable, yet unbelievable scenario. You can
find out more about Cornelia Funke on her website where there is a bio
about her. She is from Germany and has a background in social services
and worked with children with impoverished backgrounds and therefore
wanted to write stories that they could especially relate to. I didn't
know about this until after I read the book but I can see that now. I
think she probably did a really good job at that.

There is actually a bit of scariness involved in this story for the
younger children that might be sensitive to another child's delimma.
It definitely kept me interested and wondering what could happen next
with plenty of surprises! I think her style reminded me a little of
Roger Zelazny's work if you've ever read any of his books.

The next book in the series is Inkspell. I have it waiting for me to
read. I just have to get around to it. The third book in the series
has been talked about but Cornelia just recently decided on the name
of it. I believe it has been decided that it will be called Inkdeath.

Inkheart, the movie, will be released in March 2008. Another series
that she has written is called Thief Lord and has already been made
into a movie that came out a year or two ago I believe.

I highly recommend this book to readers, booklovers and fantasy fans
of all ages!

And I'm thinking you borrowed that book from my 14 year old bibliophile who
blew through it in a matter of hours. He's read the entire series. Guess
he likes it because he keeps buying the latest release.
