Hello everyone! Happy summer to you!
We are happy to announce a new art exhibition on our gallery walls!
"Things That Fly and Swim" is an eclectic gathering of works by local artist/designer Everet. Several of her pieces tie into
"Magicicada", the
celebration of cicadas that opens this Saturday, July 10th at The
Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor. Click here to learn more about
that:
Magicicada at SI Museum
We will be hosting an informal art reception to "meet the artist" on Saturday July 24th
from 2pm to 4pm... please come to appreciate the art, to mingle with
others, browse our books, and visit our backyard garden! Artwork will be available for
sale.
Tomorrow,
July 10th, is
City of Water Day, so we encourage you to come and participate in Artmaking in Tompkinsville Park from 11am to 2pm
,
presented by SI Urban Center--youth and adults are welcome! Also stop
by Tompkinsville Park any day to appreciate the new sculpture installed
there; it is a metallic arch created by artist Musa Hixson, inspired by
Eric Garner, and dedicated to Peace, Justice and Healing. It is designed
to be stood under, and "calls for people to be mindful of the humanity
and unique value of all people, by the act of putting yourself in another's position."
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Warmly
Katie and Nadette
