October Anniversary Sale and other Happenings!

Hello dear neighbors!!

  Welcome to October, a special month for us because we gave birth to ourselves on OCT 8th. Or, as Steve likes to say, the EIGHTH OF OCT.  We started in 2005 and when we did the math we discovered that it has been 14 big years. So to honor that number 14 we decided to have a 14% off SALE ON EVERYTHING IN THE STORE for the whole birthday Tuesday October 8th, our sweet 14th birthday :-) , which is coming right up!!

  The OTHER SALE that we are doing is for the whole of October; our BOO! SALE (Buy One get One free) which is on boo-ks in our MYSTERY & SUSPENSE; FOREIGN LANGUAGE; SPORTS; HUMOR categories.  That will going on for all of the month of October, right up to our big HALLOWEEN children's book giveaway for Trick Or Treaters.

  

 BIRTH-DAY DAY will feature no scheduled performances, but very likely some surprises- possibly birthday cake? Definitely FREE HUGS!   And a free re-usable metal straw to the first 14 customers who inquire...That will be TUESDAY OCT 8 and we are open on Tuesdays until 7pm. So if you want to come and let us know something about your relationship with our 14 year existence as the Book Cafe, be sure to come by before we close up at 7pm.

WEDNESDAY OCT 9 is something else. Being Indigenous People's Day and also  to celebrate John Lennon's birthday, we are hosting an special OPEN MIC for PEACE, in partnership with PEACE MUSEUM NY's Nadette Stasa, who will be the MC.  So come and enjoy and be inspired by a variety of messages related to Peace, right here on the Neighborhood Stage, from 7pm to 8:30pm. (sign-up starts at 6:30pm)

BUT WAIT! Did I forget to mention the amazing new idea bursting forth like the flowers of the sun on SATURDAY OCTOBER 5? Yes, I am talking about Alyssa Rapp's DANCE OPEN MIC where numerous dancers will take turns sharing something that is not your typical Open Mic fare.

SATURDAY NIGHT, Hey! that's TODAY!!!?? What time does it start??  8pm! woo-hoo!! Come on down!
