Onscree Image recognition

I am very new here. I am hoping to create an overlay window that i can overlay on a games inventory and have it read the numbers of the items as they are dropped in to my inventory. So i can calculate profit per hour and such on an mmo. Is BoofCV the right solution i am looking for and if so could someone point me to the proper part of the library that may facilitate that end. Thank you very much for any help in advance.

OP here for any who may see and dismsiss this as a request to create and market bots, this is not what this request is. The game i play is Black Desert Online, and coming from Final Fantasy XI where, via Windower, the norm, i hoped to recreate the same ability to scrutinize my efforts in detail rather than just being forced to make spread sheets after the fact. Nor do i wish to infringe upon Pearl Abysses ToS. Ty in advance for any feedback one way or the other.

I just saw this message because google for some reason decided it was spam :p.

Anyways, that's more of a system specific question than a BoofCV question. You can in theory get a screenshot using Robot. You might have an issue if the image is being rendered using a graphics card since that tends to use a different buffer. I have no idea how to do an overlay in any of Java's built-in GUI environments. If you figure that part out can you post the answer here?

the overlay can be facilitated by a method similar to https://github.com/BoyC/GW2TacO

what this amounts to is screenshotting certain areas and parsing the numbers from the image. But at this point i think its best i loot to c++ and not java for soltuions. ty and sorry for wasting you time.
