Dear colleague,
Brightpoint Health’s THRIVE program has developed and is launching a campaign aimed at raising awareness about the challenges and the triumphs of LGBT people (18-29) in the Bronx and the range of programs and resources available to them.
Part one of this initiative is to collect “Bronx Stories”. The goal is to give participants an opportunity to share their unique stories, take a stand against homophobia, and show pride in their borough. We intend to feature stories about everyday life, coming out, homophobia (at home and in the community), resilience and hope. Working in collaboration with our program peers, community partners, and other allies, we will collect and share stories of the LBGTQ experience in the Bronx through video and social media (YouTube, Facebook and Instagram).
Part two of this initiative is a targeted canvassing event in mid-late October during which we will distribute informational flyers and safer sex materials featuring information about our services and that of our community partners.
We’re reaching out to invite you to partner with us by:
· providing info about your program’s LGBTQ relevant programming (for printed materials);
· helping us to identify canvassing sites;
· encouraging your program participants to submit a short (5 minutes or less) video in which they respond to the following questions:
1. Which neighborhood do you represent?
2. Have you experienced homophobia in the Bronx?
i. If so, what happened and how did it affect you?
3. What do you want people to know about you?
4. What do you want people to know about the Bronx?
