Please share the following FREE arts opportunities with your students, colleagues, clients and any interested young women. The Girls’ Program at New Settlement is still accepting girls and young women for programs which started in late January (see attached description page), but we have also added two new opportunities, with enrollment just opening now. Programs meet at 1525 Townsend Ave., Bronx, NY 10452 (near D or 4 trains to 170th).
· G.R.O.W.N. offers a safe, supportive space for young women aged 14-YA to speak their minds and put their thoughts on paper – Wednesday evenings, 6:30-8pm starting this week, February 24th.
· In My Words 2016 is the second implementation of our highly successful arts intensive, piloted last spring. During NYC public school spring break (April 25-30th) girls and young women aged 12-18 train in singing, story-telling, script writing and filmmaking, under the guidance of professional female artists with international experience. Over six days, including a two-night artist retreat, participants develop their own short films, scenes and music, and present these to the community in a culminating performance. Applications available now (attached), due March 25th. Visit www.inmywordsbronx.org for more info on this program.
Applications and enrollment packets accepted via email, fax or drop off. Please feel free to contact me (or put applicants in touch) with any questions, and thank you for your help reaching more young women in the Bronx!
Best regards,
