The files on my desktop are saved in C:\Users\me\OneDrive\Desktop but I want to see the files on my desktop which are located at C:\Users\me\Desktop. When I create a new file on my desktop it does not appear in the C:\Users\me\Desktop folder which would be my goal.

I clicked the OneDrive icon at the taskbar and went to the account setting where I disabled all selected folders to be synchronised. I then looged out from OneDrive and deleted the C:\Users\me\OneDrive folder. Then I restarted my machine. As a test I created a new file on my desktop and went to C:\Users\me\Desktop where the file didnt appeared .. again. When I look at the properties of the file it sais that it is actually located in the OneDrive Desktop folder (which I deleted).

After removing/disabling OneDrive, navigate to the OneDrive desktop folder that is giving you problems using windows explorer (C:\Users\me\OneDrive\Desktop). Right click on that folder and click properties. Navigate to the folders location tab and press restore default. This worked for me. There is a chance you need to manually find the desired folder location via move and click on the existing folder (C:\Users\me\Desktop).

In order to focus resources on new technologies and operating systems, and to provide users with the most up-to-date and secure experience, beginning January 1, 2022, updates will no longer be provided for the OneDrive desktop application on your personal Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 devices.
Personal OneDrive desktop applications running on these operating systems will stop syncing to the cloud on March 1, 2022.

Regardless of what you call the folder, it displays as Desktop in the OneDrive file list. If you have three computer desktops syncing to the same OneDrive account, each uses a different folder name but displays as Desktop.

In later editions of Windows in particular, OneDrive is installed as part of the operating system and as part of initial setup, it will ask you if you wish to backup your documents, pictures and desktop to your OneDrive account. This will allow you to have the same files available on each Windows computer you use that where you log into OneDrive.

If you choose to backup your Desktop with OneDrive, your desktop will silently be moved to %USERPROFILE%\OneDrive\Desktop instead of the default. The %USERPROFILE%\Desktop will still exist in it's original location, but will no longer contain your desktop files.

Strangely the user had the deskop folder missing from view in C:/users/xxxx/ but was accessible if you typed in the address bar or in a command prompt. It might be related to onedrive or Adobe creative cloud. Both when deactivated there was still no ability to see the desktop folder from the user profile directory(C:/users/xxxxx/) either in explorer or command prompt.

OneDrive is the online document storage solution created by Microsoft which comes bundled with Windows 10. It can be used to store your documents and other data online in the cloud. It also offers synchronization of stored data across all your devices. In this article, we'll see how to add the OneDrive desktop icon in Windows 10.

Individuals get 5GB of OneDrive storage for free. You can upgrade to 100GB storage for $2 per month or purchase a Microsoft 365 plan, which includes the desktop versions of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, starting at $7 per month for 1TB of OneDrive storage. OneDrive plans for business start at $5 per user per month for 1TB of storage per user, as do Microsoft 365 plans for business. (See OneDrive and Microsoft 365 plans for individuals, business, and enterprise.)

As we all know, files on desktop are the most vulnerable ones and prone to loss during any accidents like system crash due to virus/hijack attack, software error or wrong operation. Still, it is very convenient and we are used to saving our working changes on desktop. Thus, it is urgent to take special protection for desktop data.

Then, is there an easy and reliable way to do so? As the development of cloud drive storage, more and more people choose to save crucial files to online cloud. Thus, they can access files anywhere by just signing in their cloud accounts. At the same time, cloud storage providers also provide service to backup local data (including desktop information) and save them to cloud drive.

As one of the great popular clouds, Microsoft OneDrive also offers its official App for its users. OneDrive desktop sync App can easily synchronize your computer files/folders, photos/pictures/images, videos/movies, music, documents/sheets, etc. from local to cloud side. With it, you can have your desktop folder synced to OneDrive cloud in real-time.

Syncing settings: To sync your Windows settings, on your primary Windows 10 computer search for Settings, and from the Settings window select Accounts, Sync your settings to display the dialog box pictured at right, and then set all of the items you wish to sync to the On position. When Sync Settings is turned on, Windows automatically syncs the settings you choose across all your Windows 10 desktops and laptops that you sign in to using your same Microsoft account. A listing of most of the Windows setting categories along with example settings that can be synced across your computers is shown below in the chart "Windows Settings You Can Sync in Windows 10."

To stop OneDrive from syncing desktop shortcuts, you must stop it from syncing your Desktop folder. Go into OneDrive settings, click "Manage Backup," and toggle the "Desktop" folder off. Repeat this process on your other PCs running OneDrive.

To stop OneDrive from syncing desktop shortcuts on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC to its cloud storage, the easiest thing to do is to make OneDrive stop syncing your Desktop folder entirely. It can still sync your other folders, including Documents and Downloads. (You could also turn off OneDrive entirely, but you don't need to.)

OneDrive syncs everything in your Windows user account's Desktop folder. However, the Windows desktop shows shortcuts from both your user account's Desktop folder and the "Public" user account's desktop folder. This folder is located at C:\Users\Public\Desktop by default. In other words, icons in this folder will be displayed on every Windows user's desktop on that machine. They also won't be synced.

Moving URL shortcuts was necessary on our test system, as Steam created its shortcuts to installed games with the URL file extension. It may or may not be necessary on your Windows PC depending on the type of desktop shortcuts you have. If you don't have any URL shortcuts, there's no harm in running it---it won't do anything.

Other Windows user accounts on your PC will now see the shortcut files, too. They will appear on your desktop, but OneDrive won't sync them. You will want to repeat this process on each computer you use. After moving the shortcut files, you can delete any you don't want to use from each PC.

Thanks is it possible to push an entire excel doc to the PAD? I think I can probably just sequentially iterate the desktop flow with variables by running it multiple times from power automate but it seems that this will take quite a long time to run.

From the desktop, right-click over the Windows Logo and select Installed Apps on Windows 11 (on Windows 10 it's called Apps and Features)

If you wish to use the installed Windows or macOS desktop applications of Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote) you will need to purchase a new Microsoft 365 Personal subscription. A personal subscription comes with 1 TB of storage in OneDrive.
