@Yoann same issue here. Clean install of Windows Server 2019 latest build, install .NET Framework offline installer 4.8, reboot and boom. Many native control panels, like Server Manager, requesting some 4.0.... version of .NET framework instead, failing to load.

@DavidSherrill This is the exact fix! For us, our RMM tool stopped working on a server 2019 standard server. It's services wouldn't start. Event Viewer complained about .net. Also server manager wouldn't open with the exact message you mentioned. Applying this fixed it all. thanks!!

YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND! THANK YOU! THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION THAT WORKED! Every other solution I've googled of this problem has been some variation of "turn net framework on/off in the "turn windows features on or off" app" or "reinstall the newest version of .net" or "did you try restarting your computer?" (OF COURSE I TRIED RESTARTING MY COMPUTER!! DO THEY THINK I'M AN INFANT??)

The elimination of the source switch is done on purpose as this will force the server to look within its own SxS folder, not find the needed files, and then go to Windows Update for the files (hence step 1 where it is not pointing to a WSUS server).

I just manage to install it using a free trial evaluation of Windows 2012 R2. -fr/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-10-enterpriseI had to decompress the ISO, and Copy/paste the iso/sources/sxs folder to a temp folder to the server (less than 300Mo).Regards.

WSUS is defined within a GPO. I have an AD container that I have specifically defines the GPO to NOT use WSUS so that I can put a computer in that container and run GPUPDATE /FORCE. That computer will then use Microsoft site for updates. When complete I place the computer back in the container that has a GPO that specifies the WSUS server and again rung GPUPDATE /FORCE.

For me, doing a Windows Update (Important updates only) fixed this issue. (This server wasn't connected to WSUS.) So one of the currently available updates corrected it. I'm not sure which one. Also, MS has released a fixit on this.

I am confused why the 2.0.3.3 now requires .NF 4.6.2 when it was running fine before. Are there any registry references that have to be removed to resolve this issue? Is there a workaround to address this issue? I tried 2.0.3.4 but still the executables (ie. Duplicati.Windowserver.exe) wont run since it will require .NF 4.6.2

I was trying to test our products to make sure that they are compatible with Windows Server 2016. And during some testing, I mistakenly thought that I can simply "downgrade" .NET framework from 4.6 to 4. So I removed .NET 4.6 from Roles and from IIS.

Now, I can't install it back using installer (because its part of OS so it is asking me to enable it from role & features). And I can't start server manager (to install role & features) because it needs .Net 4 at minimum.

That said, if you've installed the .Net 4.0 full profile on your server via the standalone or web installer that Microsoft provides, that should be sufficient to enable .Net 4.0 for any application that might need it on your server.

Did the system requirements change? In this blog post it lists Windows Server 2022 as the only supported server OS. But .NET 4.8 supports Windows Server 1803+, Server 2019 and Server 2022. Did a patch release of 4.8 just drop support for an entire family of server products?

The fact that I read earlier that Microsoft was going to upgrade the WebForms Visual Designer combined with this new version of the .NET Framework makes it appear that many developers and organizations are still working with the original frameworks and intend to stay with them.

However, I have worked with quite a lot in the original .NET Frameworks, including a lot of WebForms development. I have also tinkered with WCF, which I found rather easy to use compared to the projects did with the pure Remoting API. However, the feature I liked about remoting is that it a binary transfer protocol, which made it nearly impossible to breach. WCF has this as well, which if I go through with plans to build a client-server application based on my current, released application, I will probably use.

I have a Windows Server 2019 as a server to run a web project using .NET Framework 4.6.1. Usually , I build the code locally and then deploy it directly to the Windows Server 2019. Now, I want to set up an automated build process on Windows Server 2019 to fetch the latest code and build it. While researching, I found the following correspondence of .NET Framework Runtime versions on the Microsoft official website.

This worked for me. Windows has to download the 3.5 installation files, but the server is configured not to use Windows Update (common for managed servers), but WSUS. The above article describes how to fix this. In a nutshell:

I need to install .Net Framework 2.0 for an application that needs to be running on my clients server. I have attempted to install the .Net Framework 3.5 to achieve this but have not been able to succeed.

The DISM command has always worked for me.

Are Updates handled through a WSUS server? I had several Win 8/8.1 machines also have this error and it was faster to to drop them from the domain, run Updates, and then rejoin them. Our WSUS server was blocking these updates from getting through (I didn't have permissions to add these and I didn't have the 8 disk handy). But it worked.

Bill Kindle, ive tried in the add roles and features as mentioned in the description. This is were it errors out saying there is no source. So ive attempted the server installation disc for the alternative source to which it does not work .

I think the only way to achieve this is to get windows update to download the necessary files to install the feature. Because all attempts to extract from the disc fail, but windows server currently doesn't do that. How can i change it to do so.

Well, make sure the server is fully updated as far as Windows patches are concerned first, reboot how ever many times necessary and then try to run through the wizard again. If it still does not work then there is a possibility that the install is corrupt.

I have found my solution. I uninstalled a .net framework 3.5 security update that windows update had pushed through a while back and re ran the power-shell command pointing at the disc and it worked fine.

To install the .NET Framework on your system running Windows Server 2016 and later you need the Windows Server installation media that was used to setup the server. Within this blog post, we will need the contents from the subfolder [ISO]:\Sources\SxS on the installation media.

If you are using a Windows Server installation ISO, you can simply mount the ISO file on your server or extract the contents of the [ISO]:\Sources\SxS to a local directory, for example D:\Sources\SxS. To mount the ISO file using the Windows Explorer, simply select Mount from the context menu of the ISO file:

.NET framework is set of program libraries, designed and supported by Microsoft Corporation. Too much software products for Windows platform are needs this framework. Moreover, some built-in Windows programs uses .NET framework to render these windows.

The .NET Framework family also includes two versions for mobile or embedded device use. A reduced version of the framework, the .NET Compact Framework, is available on Windows CE platforms, including Windows Mobile devices such as smartphones. Additionally, the .NET Micro Framework is targeted at severely resource-constrained devices.

For the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 there is also a new variant of the .NET Framework, called the ".NET Framework Client Profile", which at 28 MB is significantly smaller than the full framework and only installs components that are the most relevant to desktop applications.[57] However, the Client Profile amounts to this size only if using the online installer on Windows XP SP2 when no other .NET Frameworks are installed or using Windows Update. When using the off-line installer or any other OS, the download size is still 250 MB.[58]

On 28 July 2009, a second release of the .NET Framework 4 beta was made available with experimental software transactional memory support.[66] This functionality is not available in the final version of the framework.

After the release of the .NET Framework 4, Microsoft released a set of enhancements, named Windows Server AppFabric,[77] for application server capabilities in the form of AppFabric Hosting[78][79] and in-memory distributed caching support.

I am trying to Reinstall sap business one Integration framework in my Windows server for HANA. I uninstalled the Service using Revo uninstaller but still i could not able to install it again. its throwing error 70000 unable to install integration framework.

I tried to install it with server manager as my desktop do not have internet but it says error 0x8024402c. Is it because in my service manager i only have 1 roles and 1 server groups running(Files and storage services)?

IIS comes with Windows Server, but it is not installed or enabled by default. Installing and enabling IISallows you to use your Windows machine as a web server. Clients, like LEC AIM, can then communicate with the Windows machine using HTTP or HTTPS.

The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
