collecting material from the wild in spring

Hi
Over the next couple of weeks I plan to venture into the dublin ,
wicklow to look for one or two specimens that would have potential for
future Bonsai.
Any advice on where is the best place to search -
on mountain paths where tress are growing nearby
or within heavily forrested woods, do you need to go deep in to the
forest...
