Hello everyone,

Did anyone have issues with Point Grey camera in the new version of Bonsai (2.62)? I have installed the Point Grey Library, and I can use the SpinView or PointGrey FlyCap2 software to view the live images. I can also control the FP2001 (photometry) normally using Bonsai. However, when I try to use Bonsai to control the Point Grey camera (for tracking), I could not even find the FlpCapture node and I could not start the camera in Bonsai.

Thanks,
Xiong

Make sure you are running bonsai 64bit with the 64bit version of the PG application. Additionally, there have been some versions known to not work with bonsai. I have been using the 2.11.3.425_x64 of Point Grey with success so I havent bothered to change :P.
I will leave a link here in case you wanna give it a try

Hi Bruno,

Thank you for your reply. I could successfully use PG camera with FlyCap2 application. However, I could not add the "FlyCapture" node in the Bonsai workflow because "FlyCapture" was removed in the new version of Bonsai. I do not know what other nodes that I can use to start PG camera.

Best,
Xiong

Oh ops, sorry, that is usually the problem.
Other people in the forums seem to have reported a similar problem and have fixed it. Maybe give it a try?
Cheers,

Hi Xiong,

I believe this might be the same problem that Andrew Hardaway asked. The package versions might be getting mixed up in between updates. You can try doing a fresh install of Bonsai and just installing the Neurophotometrics nodes directly, without updating all the packages to the latest version.

Versions should be aligned soon as we propagate dependency changes across package versions (basically there is a new Spinnaker version which allows you to pick the camera by exact serial number, which is very useful).

Hope this helps.

Hi all,
Has this been fixed? I am using Bonsai 2.6.2 and cannot get point grey cameras to be recognized with video capture or the spinnaker capture nodes, and get the error "No method overload found for the given arguments" when trying to use the spinnaker node. I can put this in a new thread if that would be helpful.

Hi all,

I managed to get the SpinnakerCapture node in Bonsai 2.6.3 after installing the proper version of Spinnaker, however here I encounter a new problem. My camera is Firefly MV FMVU-03MTM communicating via USB2 and it was working with FlyCapture software. After installing Spinnaker I cannot open the camera due to incompatible USB device, from what I understood Spinnaker doesn't support USB2 (Bonsai gives me similar error: Camera is not communicating in U3V protocol. [-1015] ). Any way to go around this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Ania
