Recommend a Machine Vision Camera

Dear there,

I'm looking for a machine vision camera, which will be used for mice postion tracking and sync data with open-ephys.  It seems most Bonsai users use PointGrey Camera, I try to order one FL3-U3-13e4c, but the lead-time is too long, almost 30 weeks.

Can anyone recommend one for me？ also with a compatiable lens?

The camera will be used to track the mice postion in open-filed or maze. I will use Bonsai for the video recording, and sync with open ephys GUI.

Does anyone use the  OptiHub 2 + Flex3  (https://optitrack.com/cameras/flex-3/) in Bonsai before?

or this one:   Ximea mq013cg-on (https://www.ximea.com/en/products/cameras-filtered-by-sensor-types/mq013cg-on)

I haven't used OptiTrack or Ximea cameras before.

Plug-and-play cameras with support for Bonsai include Basler, AlliedVision or Euresys cameras, any of those should be possible to plug and play.

Supplier shortages are widespread now, so I agree it would be good to find solid alternatives.

Hi  Cequn,

We are in a similar situation about the lead times and I was wondering if you had been able to find a suitable camera which didn't take too long to be delivered? If so, would you mind sharing which camera you got in the end?

Hi Maria,

Finally, we got two cameras. 1. Basler  acA1440-220um, there is a bonsai library pylon support it. but you have to install pylon 5 viewer.

2. we also tried a Chinese local brand, mindVision MV-SUA133GC-T,   it works but not that good like Basler.   it supports DirectShow so you can use the videocapture  node
