Dear Bonsai community,

We are new to Bonsai and have been able to develop the workflow we need in a short time notably thanks to the many resources found online and this super useful Google Group. Thanks a lot for this already!

However, there is one issue we haven’t managed to overcome, hence this message. The problem is very simple and we have overcome more complicated problems on the way, but still not this one. The issue is as follows: we are trying to record an audio track during our experiments (using an ultrasonic UM200K microscope from Dodotronic) with the AudioCapture node. However, when simply doing that (no other nodes involved), we systematically get the following error: All attemps to open capture devices returned IntPtr.Zero. See debug log for verbose list.

We have tried with different microphones, on different computers, and we always get this error. Also, we can record from those devices using third-party softwares including Audacity. Given how device-unspecific the problem seems to be, it looks like a very basic issue (perhaps something like a missing package?), but still we haven’t managed to identified the cause...

This would be very helpful if you could share any idea you might have about the thing we are (probably stupidly) missing.
Many thanks :)

Maxime

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out :)
Yes, we have seen this conversation already but the thing is that, in our case, Bonsai properly detects the microphone (it is listed among the devices on the right panel). However, when we select it and we run the workflow, we get the error. We have nevertheless tried the solution described in the conversation and it did not helped. In fact, enabling/disabling the system microphone has, in our case, no effect on the ability to detect the ultrasonic microphone (which in our case is not the problem).

Hi,

I'm getting the exact same error and can't seem to figure it out. I'm wondering if you ended up solving this issue and figure out what went wrong? Thanks.

Best,
Millie

Hi Millie,

Nope, we have not figure out the issue. As the microphone is not super central to what we are trying to achieve, we have not invested a lot of energy into it to be honest. But, if you or others have found the reason for this problem, I would be super interested to know more about it!
Good luck, and sorry for not being able to help…

Maxime
