Dear all,

I need to open up a VGI or VGL file into image J and then export an
image stack (tiff or dicom). I have looked in the user guides but
havent been able to work it out. I was wondering whether anyone knew
how to do this?

Kind regards,

Frank

Hi Frank,

Looks like you're right, no support for Volume Graphics formats in ImageJ.

You could contact Melissa Linkert at LOCI to get support added. Normally what's required is a couple of sample files and a description of the data.

Alternatively, you could send a message to the ImageJ or Fiji mailing lists.

Dear Frank and Michael,

You ca do it along the lines of Import --> raw, then choose the associated .vol file. Then an options window will come up, which you'll need to fill in based on what's in the .vgi (ii does not work for .vgl). You can open the .vgi file in notepad if you need to read it.

Occasionally the contrast goes awry when loading the files. If so going to image--> adjust should do it. If it does it will look basically black and white, whereas if you get any of the options wrong you'll have skewing and off pixels.

Best Wishes
Richie
