Just released 7.03 of BoltWire. This version includes a "verify email" plugin for those wanting double optin capabilities. There's also a nifty new member management tool in the site admin area, and a few other things.

I also fixed a significant bug in the new BOLTfolders function which saved changes you made in system files, in those system files, rather than copies in local pages. This means those changes would be overwritten with each new upgrade. If for no other reason, that bug is sufficient reason to upgrade!!!

There's really only two things left on my to do list for the 7.xx release series, other than continued refinement of the user experience and bug checking:  1) To create a step by step site creation checklist. And 2) to create a script/tutorial for an easy upgrade process. Neither should be very difficult...

After that, I will be turning my full attentions to the webhosting process and creating the pro modules and documentation. Once that project goes live, I will definitely be slowing development. Last chance to call for changes, new features, whatever...

Cheers,
Dan

Thank you!
I still struggle with login.
Using the start script, I created a password, a new folder, called the url, the join page opens, put in email, password (existing ones and new ones), but it doesn't move on.

Observations:
The join page does not load the header completely (just the head symbol). Side is not on the side but on top. Footer contains "Link goes here" text. Clicking the head symbol opens welcome but does not go on with any of my email and password combinations.

I changed the folder rights from 755 to 777 on several occasions, but that doesn't help either.

Greetings, Martin

Thinking about the login process: if I start a site on my own server I would prefer not to use an email address (on page join) but a user name (like the versions before).

Any way you can send me a screen shot of what you are seeing? I'm a little confused about what you are describing.  Or maybe, a url so I could look at things myself--assuming you have it online somewhere...

As for the login, could you look in the mbase folder inside your site folder and particularly the email and password pages. You should have an entry like admin: so...@email.com and admin: mypassword respectively.

I noticed a mistake in the init.txt file used by the start screen that set the default $BOLTadmin value to "1000" rather than the correct "admin" value at some point when reworking the new membership system, and that could definitely be causing issues. So you might want to check your index.php file and verify it also has the $BOLTadmin value set to admin. I've fixed the init.txt file for the next release, but you can fix that also now to do more testing.

Note you can login using either the email or the member id. Which would normally be "admin" or some number like "0012" (12th account, after superadmin). That is, you don't have to use the email to login, as long as you know the id.

Also, in the next release, I'm going to add a line of code to the start.php script so you can choose an alternate superadmin account for a little bonus security. Just go to the site creation page and then add &admin=whatever to the url. Then create your site as usual. The new "whatever" id will be used for your first account.

I'll be releasing this and some other fixes soon...

Cheers,
Dan

PS. Let me know if fixing the login issue resolves any of your other problems.
