Hello Everyone!

Those who have been a part of BoltWire for awhile know I like to roll out new releases on big dates, and given that July 4 is one of my favorite holidays I penciled it in to roll out a big upgrade (version 8.0) on this date. And just moments ago, it went live!

I was thrilled to see the upgrade of my BoltWire site from 7.xx was effortless (so far). The main difference was a new directory structure for the core code, so I just installed BoltWire into a new directory ("boltwire8") and then updated my index.php file. And presto, everything switched over perfectly.

You can see all the new features (not counting dozens of tiny tweaks and fixes I've no doubt made over the last year and half since 7.10) in the release notes. I would rate this new release (8.00) as fairly stable as I've been using it on my production site for months. I also did some double checking on the start.php script to try and make sure it works perfectly--as that's been problematic for some--and it seems to be working fine.

My guess is we'll have a few tweaks to make as it gets rolled out on different sites, but I think for the most part we'll be good to go for a good while. My next goal is polishing up the docs for all the core extensions, and finishing up the pro modules for those interested in going a bit deeper in BoltWire.

I've also updated the BoltWire site a slight bit to better reflect my plans going forward...

Wishing everyone a happy 4th of July. Even if you don't celebrate this date in your country, you can use it to celebrate a new BoltWire release! :)

Cheers,
Dan

Thankyou Dan.  I am trying it out and having fun.   I am using php 8.1. IT WORKS as advertised.   I did have some php warnings come up, but added this line to the index.php file before the bw is included and now all screens and functions are working great.

If you could tell me what error messages you had prior to this, I would appreciate it. Probably easy fixes to the code to eliminate those warnings. My guess is PHP 8 is just more strict about some things. My server is not upgraded yet. But glad to know it works by and large. I looked at the PHP 8 changes and didn't see anything that should be an issue. But you never know!

Cheers,
Dan

Thank you very much!
I wanted to enable the paragraph tags/disable the br tags.
enableVspace on site.config worked with 7.10, but not with 8.
Did I miss something?
Martin
