Last night I got my first view of comet
C/2021 F1 (Lemmon-PanSTARRS). Although it was low in the NW (in Andromeda), I could reach it from half-way down the lawn, aiming around our neighbours' gazebo!
It was discovered around a year ago and now is at its peak of 11th magnitude.
This is a stack of 54x 1-minute with my Mx716 camera on the C8 operating at f/3.5.
Once this had got too low, I slewed around to 116P/Wild, high up in Leo. This comet was discovered in 1990 and has a period of around 6.5 years, but this is my first view of it. It's only 13th magnitude and won't get any brighter.
This image was formed from a stack of 52x 1-minute subs.
Despite the poor weather this year, this is the eighth different comet which I've observed - and we're only at the start of March!
