Burning Man 2023 | Jack Rabbit Speaks

Volume 30, Issue #16 | April 2, 2026

From Down the Rabbit Hole

Burning Man is the sum of thousands of inspired humans coming together to collaborate and build something bigger than themselves. If you're new here, there are SO many ways to plug in — from supporting a camp or mutant vehicle, to helping an art crew, to joining a Black Rock City team. And if this is your umpteenth Burn, why not try something new? Whatever your interest or skill, there's a place for you to connect and contribute.

Begin your next journey at the Burning Man 2026 Participation Fair this Saturday, April 4 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET. You'll hear from Art, Placement, Volunteerism, and more — each opening pathways to maximize your Burning Man experience. Get the details and Zoom link below.

Beneath the revelry of Burning Man, a powerful catalyst turns Burners into changemakers who take creative action to solve pressing challenges. Read the Journal and listen to the podcast to learn how Burning Man inspired four changemakers to make a difference — from outer space to makerspaces.

We're serving a smorgasbord of tasty morsels in this edition. Black Rock City's Event Director, Charlie Dolman, shares news about how we, and YOU, will make Gate easier in 2026. If you're near southern California, don't miss BEquinox, Los Angeles' official Regional Event. AND there's a kaleidoscopic new Axis Mundi theme poster to hang in your crib. Get it, below.

Improving How You Get Home: Traffic Management On and Off Playa

Now that the dust (and mud) from 2025 has settled, we are taking a deep look at the bottlenecks that slowed the roll into Black Rock City. Dive into this Journal post by Event Director Charlie Dolman to learn about our commitment to easier ingress and egress, new data-driven travel goals, how you can help, and why having your tickets in hand at Gate is the ultimate gift to your fellow Burners.

The 2026 Axis Mundi Theme Poster Is Here

Every year a member of the community gifts their skills to create a poster that represents Black Rock City's annual theme. This year's colorful vision for Axis Mundi was designed by our favorite Environmental Restoration Manager DA, aka Dominic Tinio. Over the years, DA has designed several theme posters. You can trace his distinctive figures back to his iconic Green Man image on the 2006 theme poster.

Listen to "Burners in Space" on the Burning Man LIVE Podcast

In this new episode of Burning Man LIVE, we speak with Ranger Cosmonaut, aka Spaceman Sam, a writer, inventor, and futurist who worked on the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and the legendary Neverwas Haul mutant vehicle. From his zero-g cocktail glass, to his book about making off-world living worth living, tune in to hear Sam muse on the importance of creature comforts in extreme environments.
