Everyone has to get supplies of one sort or another in the towns en route to the playa, and we're here to help. We've compiled an impressive (if we do say so ourselves) collection of information and resources available to you on your way to and from BRC, wherever you're coming from.
Whether you want to load up on water, find a tent, grab another costume, get that last shower ... or just take a moment to kiss civilization goodbye, we've got you handled ...
Coming from the West or Southwest (or flying in), we've got Reno covered. From the Northwest, Cedarville. From the East, we got Lovelock and Fernley. From the Southeast, there's Fallon. Then for most travelers, Wadsworth and Nixon, our good neighbors from the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. And finally, when you get up close to the playa, our favorite small desert towns: Gerlach and Empire.
An important note: these communities are our neighbors. We've forged great relationships with them over the years, and frankly, Burning Man couldn't continue without them. Please pay them the utmost respect on your way through. Show them some love, and remember your actions represent all Burners. When patronizing a local business, rest area or parking lot, please be respectful and courteous. And LEAVE NO TRACE. The future of Burning Man relies on it.

Reno Information and Resources
The Reno area is the nearest major metropolitan area to Black Rock City, 2.5 hours away.
If you plan to get any or all of the supplies you need in Reno or simply stay overnight, we have a big section on our website PACKED with information on all of the important local resources -- supermarkets, water, hardware, curiosity shops, recycling, trash and greywater disposal, hotels, restaurants, transportation, shipping, favorite spots ... you name it. And all mapped out for your navigational planning. Bookmark it on your mobile device!

Reno-Tahoe International Airport
Burning Man is the busiest time of year for the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, with over 15,000 Burners coming through on their way to and from the playa. If you're one of them, we've got RTIA information that will help make your airport experience smooth.

From the Northwest — Cedarville & Alturas
The town of Cedarville, CA is a great place to stop and get supplies from the northwest, and your last for 85 miles. The community really supports us and looks forward to seeing us every year.
Burners and are warmly welcomed to participate in the Modoc County Fair in Cedarville August 21-24, and in the Town Parade on August 24. Get to know our neighbors, show off your art and mutant vehicles at this family-friendly event.

The Cedarville Rancheria Tribe's Rabbit Traxx store is taking part in the Exodus Trash and Recycling Network again this year, so you can take all your trash and recycling here after Burning Man.

From the East — Lovelock
Set on the western edge of "Cowboy Country," Lovelock -- the County Seat of Pershing County, the county wherein BRC is located -- is a major pit-stop on I-80 to look forward to if you are traveling from the east.
It's also your last chance for 70 miles until Fernley, where you will veer north off to the playa. Great place to stop, get gas, food, supplies, a bed for the night and show our dear neighbors some love.

Fallon is your first major town after traveling hundreds of miles across Nevada, whether from Las Vegas or via Highway 50.

Most travelers pass through the towns of Wadsworth and Nixon on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation on their way to Burning Man. The Tribe is very supportive of Burning Man and hospitable to travelers. Check out all the information and resources here:

PYRAMID LAKE
Pyramid Lake is a beautiful ancient lake at the heart of the Paiute Tribe Reservation, with plenty of day-use and camping opportunities for before and/or after the hot dusty playa.
NOTE: All day-use and camping requires permits! Proceeds from permits help support the Tribal Government, and water quality and environmental programs that protect the unique ecosystem of Pyramid Lake year round. The Tribe advises all travelers that the north and east side of the lake, Anajo Island, The Pyramid, and The Needles, are off-limits to everyone but Tribe members. The Tribe also advises that souvenir and artifact hunting are not permitted. To purchase camping, day-use, and other permits online, or for a list of permit locations and additional information about Pyramid Lake, please visit www.pyramidlake.us.
PYRAMID LAKE ART SHOW
The Paiute Tribe invites all Burning Man participants to stop and experience the unique art and culture on display at the Pyramid Lake Arts and Crafts Show, Saturday August 23, from 10am-4pm, at the Pyramid Lake Museum and Visitors Center (709 State Street in Nixon, across from The Nixon Store). Native American artists will be displaying and selling their artwork & crafts. The traveler will also find an invaluable experience in checking out the Museum itself with breathtaking architecture and a remarkable display of the history and culture of the Tribe, lake and land. If you are camping on Pyramid Lake or otherwise have the time, don't miss out on this special arts show at the Museum that will leave you with an appreciation for the unique arts and culture of Pyramid Lake.
CAR WASH
The Sacred Visions Powwow Committee will be sponsoring a car wash during Exodus for travelers next to the Natchez Elementary School, just as you enter Wadsworth on State Route 447. The wash will be available for vehicles of all sizes during daylight hours from August 30-September 2. All funds raised will go to support the Sixth Annual Sacred Visions Powwow.
TRAVEL ADVISORY
The Tribe advises all travelers to slow down and keep your distance while traveling through the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation. Obey the posted speed limits and keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. All State Routes on the reservation are two lane roads and the Tribe would like motorists to be aware of the dangers associated with high speeds on two lane highways. The entire Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation is an open range area for livestock. Motorists must be cautious of livestock that may be on the highways. Finally, while passing though the Tribal communities of Wadsworth and Nixon, the Tribe requests that motorists be cautious of children and courteous to Tribal Members that may attempt to cross the road, or that are accessing their homes, businesses or Tribal Services.

BRC's Next Door Neighbors — Gerlach & Empire
Gerlach and Empire are our closest neighbors. In addition to some last-minute or important resources like gas, water, some groceries, booze, clothing and toys, they also have year-round options such as storage, and mutant vehicle and art support.
There's also very important information for all travelers to know about on their way to and from BRC through these towns.

Getting Water in Gerlach
The last place to fill up on water (and thereby the most effective way to reduce your vehicle weight, and thus gas expenditure) is at the Gerlach General Improvement District, the local governing body of Gerlach.
Located at 330 Short Drive, you'll see signs to follow as you enter Gerlach.
The GID will be selling potable water to fill up RVs and water tanks of any size, with the funds going to support the town of Gerlach.
Rates are 50 cents per gallon up to 100 gallons, 45 cents per gallon between 100 and 200 gallons, and 40 cents per gallon for above 200 gallons. 6 and 7-gallon water containers also available (free water with purchase of container). Cash only, but an ATM is onsite.
Open Aug 19-22, 9am-5pm; Aug 23-26, 8am-midnight; and Aug 27-28, 9am-5pm.

EXTRA: Where To Take Your Trash and Recycling!!
Leaving No Trace is absolutely critical to Burning Man's survival. Really critical. Errant trash on the sides of the roads and other littering seriously impacts the time, money, resources and support of our neighbors. Littering is not only illegal and cause for prosecution -- it makes Burning Man, and all of us, look really irresponsible. And if we want Burning Man to continue, we can't have any of that. Period.
In very generous support of our community, several of our neighbors return this year providing 24-hour trash and recycling service along all Exodus routes. Check out the Exodus Trash and Recycling (EXTRA) network locations.
Finally, you'll find other roadside trash vendors during Exodus in Gerlach, Nixon and Wadsworth, and some of them will also be open 24 hours. They'll have signs up so you can't miss them. Not only will they help take a load off, supporting them also supports local economies.

Reno Bonus! The Generator Community Art & Builders Space
The Generator in is an experimental and radically-inclusive art and builders space in the Reno-Sparks area, dedicated to playa-bound and year-round projects. Art installations being built there for Black Rock City include Embrace, Library of Babel, Hayum Temple to Sunlight, Camp Above the Limit!, the Black Rock City Library, and various Souk and other projects and mutant vehicles from around the world.
If you're looking for a place to build close to BRC, check them out. And they are always in need of volunteers and donations of tools and supplies. Or just stop by and check it out.

The Great Depressurization Chamber Music and Art Festival in Reno
Many Burners check into the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno after Burning Man (September 1-3 this year) for off-playa rest, relaxation, community and playa-inspired entertainment. Many of the performers will have been participating in Burning Man, in fact.
