ROUND-UP OF BURNING MAN WRITINGS:
|
GET ME OFF THIS CRAZY RIDE!
|

As we continue our descent from Burning Man 2014's dizzying heights, the post-Burn flow of things and stuff is flowinating away ...
We've got your logistical nitty gritties (event feedback, Census, lost and found). We've got your written wrap-ups (Burning Man what what?). We've got your beautiful image galleries, charming videos, and oooh! Do you want to get a hold of the official Burning Man 2014 poster? Yeah you do ... it's pretty.
Want to connect with some Burners and keep the vibe alive? Hook up with your local Regional (they're all over the place).
But hey! If you're in the Bay Area, or prone to traveling here for something cool (we know you're out there), we've got some SF-based events upcoming you might want to pencil into your calendar. Things like SF Decompression and the Artumnal Gathering for instance. Good stuff, folks!
We hope your decompression feels like a pressure valve releasing unicorns, puppies and rainbows. (Close your eyes, they're there.)
The Man burns in 354 days!

Like this poster? You're not alone. Since we took down our Marketplace for maintenance, people have been asking where to pick one up.
And hey! Now the Marketplace is back up and running, featuring Burning Man calendars, books, movies, posters, as well as a gift certificate for your favorite Burner. It's a nice opportunity to collect and share Burning Man culture with friends and family (or hoard it for yourself).

I'm Burning for You: Crimson Rose & Will Roger's Love Story
While "committed long-term relationships" may not be the first association most people have with Burning Man, many of the hundreds of thousands of Burners that have attended over the years are couples. And some of them have been around since the early days: take for example, Crimson Rose & Will Roger.
Four years ago, Global Glue Project began filming intimate short films capturing the wisdom of couples across the globe. In 2010, GGP began filming couples in BRC and has returned to the playa ever since. Last year, they captured the story of Burning Man co-founders Crimson & Will. The film includes some really cool Burning Man history as well. Check it out.

Burning Man Isn't Perfect — And How to Come Home
Leah Lamb wrote a great post about decompressing from Burning Man over on the Huffington Post:
"Now that you have washed your clothes, dusted off your shoes, and finally removed the playa from your hair (did you remember to change your air filter?), you are slowly metabolizing your experiences, making sense of what will stay with you, what you will leave on the playa, and how, or if, that epic transformational moment you experienced at sunrise/in the temple/on the roller rink/at the fence will translate into the default world."

Participate in the Black Rock City Census!
Be counted! Please take a moment to participate in the Black Rock City Census, so we can better know the demographics of our ever-growing, ever-evolving community. We use this (anonymous) information to better serve YOU, and to help the media, government officials and others know who Burners really are. It'll take about 20-30 minutes to fill out the survey.
Fill out the Black Rock City Census.
Big ups to our Census volunteers, who worked super hard and killed it on playa this year to make the Census possible!

Leopard Mafia Was Absolutely Beastly
We were tickled to learn that this newly-formed playa tradition was wildly successful. Lady Leopard writes:
"Leopard Mafia took the playa by spotted storm! We were all seeing spots that beautiful Thursday! Burning Man's first annual Playa-wide leopard day is here to stay! Let's grow our prowl together for years to come. Getting in touch with our sleek inner beasts was magical and undeniably frisky and fun. Leopard Mafia is slicker than oil! Thank you to all that participated and supported this fledgling movement from its humble beginning! Keep your eyes peeled for the 2nd Annual Leopard Mafia AfrikaBurn edition! Remember my kittens.... Leopard is LOVE."

Love Letter To The World - The Global Burning Man Tattoo Art Project
We were thrilled to help launch this project in the JRS before the event, and now look at 'em go! Kentucky Fried Guy writes:
"In follow up to the earlier JRS post about the launch of Love Letter To The World at Kentucky Fried Camp this Burn, we wanted to let you know that the project and the web site went live Sept. 1 at lovelettertotheworld.com.
Go to the site to learn more, select your phrase from the poem, and download your artwork. Then you can get your part of the artwork tattooed on yourself and upload your photos, follow the progress on the blog, and then the interactive video that releases in January. We all return to the playa in 2015 to meet up with the other participants in the project.
There are already hundreds of participants and thousands more have shown interest at this early stage! More info about the artists and this and prior projects on the website. Come join us in a global mural on skin."
