Subject: Squash reports for the Macc Express

Hi all,

Taking advantage of being on placement with MEN Media as part of my Sports Journalism training, i have now got the thumbs-up for a suggestion that the Macclesfield Express should carry weekly reports about the progress of teams at the three clubs in and around Macclesfield: namely, Bollington, Macc and Prestbury - including Ladies’ sides at Bolly and Prestbury. 

Some years ago, when Prestbury had a First Division team, regular updates were published in the paper - so it will hopefully be good for the sport to revive this link, whilst extending it to Prestbury’s two near-neighbours 

I shall be writing the new articles myself, with a view to submitting 300-word pieces every weekend for the following Wednesday. The first one will appear in next week’s edition, and - given that there are no matches this Thursday - is to take the form of an introductory ‘stock-take’ of our teams’ seasons to date.

For each subsequent week, the reports will focus on the previous Monday’s and Thursday’s matches. Obviously, I shall be able to glean most of the information I need from results posted on the NWCSL website, but it would be good to receive from Club contacts and Captains any additional information - such as outstanding individual performances, and ‘3-2' fixtures decided by the last match played - that may help to add colour to the articles.

Post-match snippets should be with me by each weekend. I shan’t chase for these, but will endeavour to include mention of as many that I do receive as the word-limit permits!
