Havana, August 9
(acn) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Wednesday said in Montevideo,
Uruguay, that the protection given by Washington to international and
self-confessed terrorist Luis Posada Carriles shows that the US
government is a world threat.
According to Prensa Latina news agency, the leader of the Bolivarian
Revolution recalled that, for more than two years now, his country has
been formally asking for the extradition of Posada Carriles, one of the
biggest terrorists in the history of the Western hemisphere, and that
Washington has ignored that petition in spite of the abundant evidence
that support the extradition request.
Chavez noted that everyone, including the US government, knows that
Posada Carriles is a terrorist who has killed, planted bombs and
trained terrorists and torturers. However, he said, Washington refuses
to extradite him accusing him only of having violated the US migratory
law.
"And now, he walks the streets of Miami as a free man," added
the Venezuelan President.
Chavez made the statements during a press conference that ended a visit
to Uruguay as part of a tour that began in Argentina and will continue
in Ecuador and Bolivia.
