The
Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of America (ALBA)
represents a
boosting tool of the new integration proposals concerning the education
of Latin American countries, the Education Minister, Adán Chávez,
stated.
This statement was made by the Minister
during the forum For a New Social Contract: Reinventing the
democracy , within the framework of the VI Social Summit for
Latin American and Caribbean Union, held in Caracas.
Important
achievements have been reached regarding education, thanks to the
agreements endorsed with Cuba, Nicaragua and Bolivia. “It helps us to
believe that a better world is possible”, said Mr. Chávez.
The
Venezuelan Head of State pointed out that 1,500,000 Venezuelans were
taught to read and write in less than a year through the program Yo
sí puedo
(I can do it), thanks to the agreements endorsed between Cuba and
Venezuela. He also stated that the Bolivarian Government guarantees
people’s inclusion in the educative system by Missions such as Ribas
and Sucre.
In addition, he indicated that now 4,000
Venezuelans are studying Community Integral Medicine, while 1,000
compatriots study Post grade and other fields in La Havana.”
Venezuela
and Cuba are boosting the development of 17 projects about teacher’s
training, the revision and elaboration of books, the Minister Adán
Chávez said.
He said that ALBA opens the door to obtain the union of
people and the eradication of inequities.
