Hi BOLD Immersioners,

Today, I'm pleased to introduce you to the 5 camp counselors that you'll be spending a great deal of time with here in Mountain View. Natalie, Kira, Ryan and Yosh will be joining Lindsey as your go-to Googlers. I've added them to the googlegroup so they can participate in conversations.

You can learn more about them on the website: https://sites.google.com/a/google.com/2012-bold-immersion/googlers*

We've talked about Travel and Sports, let's turn our attention to something more fun: Youtube.
What is your favorite Youtube video? And before everyone just posts a massive amount of links - let me ask... why. Why is it your favorite? What is a video you think everyone should watch (or listen to)?

Currently, I've been listening to Paper Diamond for the past few months. I went to his show and really dig his style of music.

See you soon,
+Demian

*Kira is on vacation in Italy right now (awesome!) so her fun facts may or may not have been made up ;-p

Hey Everyone,

Two of my all time favorite videos on YouTube have to be Save the World by Swedish House Mafia and the it gets better Google Chrome commercial. Swedish House Mafia has to be my all time favorite group (even though they just broke up :( ), I am an avid fan of Haus music,  and the video is such a nice way to say go save the world tonight. Plus I liked how they made it dogs coming and saving the people in trouble, making the video both cute and very enjoyable to watch. It just has such a great message plus it is an awesome song!             http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXpdmKELE1k

Second the It's gets better campaign video that Google highlights in its Google Chrome commercial is so heart touching to me. Not only have I dealt with this issue personally but I really enjoy using the video in my Warrington Welcome/ First Year Florida class I co-taught this summer and its such a great way to open up the lesson talking about diversity on campus. Even till this day, it still always makes me smile when I watch it.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7skPnJOZYdA

Hope you all are having a great rest of your summer and can't wait to meet you all in Mountain View!

Sincerely,

Mark Supinski

Hey Guys!
I have so many favorite YouTube videos. But I am going to go with my all time favorites and some that are just currently on my mind. I should just be up front and let you know that I also love all cat videos but will not include any on this list.

This video I just learned about this morning from my teammate, Deb, who was presenting to a group. It is a Google feel good moment. It is one of the first tests of the self driving cars. Watch, it is really inspiring.

My parents showed me this video this weekend. It is a clam eating salt. It is kinda weird/a little gross but I was fascinated. I never knew how they ate!

This animal planet video never gets old to me.

And finally I love the Google Zeitgeist videos. Here are the ones from 2011, and 2010.

So excited to meet all of you next week :)

I am a youtube video fanatic! So i am in LOVE with this topic! lol
Great videos by the way.
I wanted to share one the most inspirational videos on the web!
Always motivates me through finals or whatever task I might feel unsure about.

It was a lecture to students at MSU by Eric Thomas.

Also I love Jimmy Kimmel.  He wanted parents to play a joke on their kids by telling them they ate all of their Halloween Candy.  Enjoy!

I am literally cracking up with some of these videos. The Honey Badger not caring and Jimmy Kimmel causing misery to children are classics.

I can post so many YouTube videos from the hours of procrastination accumulated in the past year (I'm sure we all can) but I'll post the last two that show up on my history.

1. Elders React to Dubstep http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgII2gDY-Rw

This video comes from the creators of the popular "Kids React" video series except they place seniors in a room and have them watch popular viral videos. Watching elders react (and dance) to dubstep in this hilarious and interesting to witness a huge generational gap.

2. Did You Know? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL9Wu2kWwSY

This video was one that someone shared with me concerning the rapid pace of information technology. The video is a bit outdated but its insane to see statistics on social media and the internet shown visually. (Example: Google has an estimated 31 billion searches entered every month. Or the estimation that a week's worth of the New York Times contains more information than a person was likely to come across in a lifetime in the 18th century!)

Excited to see all of you in the coming week!

Sincerely,
Jose Vazquez

P.S. That clam video Lindsey....cant get it out of my head...

Like Jose, I too have been thoroughly enjoying everyone's favorite Youtube clips! Demian Caponi, I love the single 'Can We Go Up'! That song drew me to the artist, Paper Diamond.

I am a huge fan of TED talks. One of my all time favorite talks is this amazingly smooth R&B group's performance of their single 'Fly Baby'. The 7 men beatbox an entire orchestra so well, I almost forgot that there were no instruments! Being a musician and an all-around music lover, this video gave me an all-new appreciation for beatboxing.

Music-lovers, this is a must see!

Hi everyone! This is my first communication to the group so I better make it good..... :)

The most recent YouTube video that made me say WOW is this comparison of Beyonce's "Countdown" music video and the "Snuggie Version" done by a fan. I am a huge Beyonce fan and I love this kid's dedication!

If we're talking about music, I love this live mash-up "Pop Culture" by Madeon. It's amazing to me that he is doing that live + it just makes me want to dance. :) I love mash-ups so please share if you know of any other good ones!

For laughs, this video is so old but makes me laugh every time. Enjoy.

I can't wait to meet you all next week!

--Nat

P.S. Lindsey, that video of the clam will haunt my dreams tonight.

All of these videos great (I especially am loving the Honey Badger haha).  Some of my favorite youtube videos are compilations of incredible feats.  The People Are Awesome series are some of my favorites.

Also, I encourage everyone to check out the website www.bestofyoutube.com.  Every day a few new videos from youtube are posted and they are usually pretty interesting.  Check it out!

These are all awesome haha. The dub step one has me listening to some right now.

Okay, I can never really think of a favourite youtube video but I definitely like these three...

'Llamas with hats' is very funny - I have no coherent reason for liking it other than it brightens my day.

This time lapse of a typhoon over Hongkong is pretty sweet (and has cool music). I used to obsess over it and wish I could visit HK, and now I have! The video shows what a typhoon is like pretty accurately, too. It's funner to watch than to experience.

And this song/video by Norwegian group Lemaitre is worth sharing. I like their style because it blends Daft Punk with funky sounds and it's very indie but danceable at the same time.

Like Lindsey (and a lot of other people on our team), I love cat videos and probably have about 20 that I could share, but for now I'll just share one. It makes me laugh. every. time.

And on a more touching note, this video makes me smile. A dad took a video of his daughter every week from birth to 12 years old, and made it into a 3-minute time lapse. Cool idea!

I'm a little late to the party, but two videos that I really enjoy are:

The Whistle Tips - classic, classic YouTube

and...

The Johnny Cash Project - not so funny, but a great representation of the possibilities for artistic collaboration using the internet.

Can't wait to meet everyone next week!
