Weall know King George Strait has the most #1 country hits at 44. Can you tell us who's in the number two position? That's not really a big secret either because it was quite a battle between George and Conway Twitty. Conway had his last number one with "Desperado Love" in 1986. It was his 40th chart topper.

But when Conway was making his final appearance on top of the Billboard chart, George Strait was just getting warmed up. His first number one came in 1982 with "Fool Hearted Memory". So we've got George with 44 and Conway with 40 and George Strait is still around. He could have another one or two. While that's not likely, what is likely is no artist will ever top George Strait's 87 top 10 hits. Some artists have made a career out of having one top 10 hit.

Hey -- what happened to George Jones? The Possum only gave us 13 number one hits BUT he has one awesome record that no artist will ever break, He had 154 songs that made the country top 40 starting in 1955.

Happy Birthday to the king of country George Strait. Aside from Elvis, George is my musical hero. He just oozes coolness. I have traveled the country to see this man perform. I have been to Vegas, Kansas City and many more places to see this man tear up a stage without moving. I have so much respect for him as a person and performer. He doesn't need to do anything on the that stage but stand there and sing. You know you are cool when you can get an arena full of people to scream just by pointing.

George does things his own way which I admire greatly. He has been married to same woman forever, writes music with his son, tours when he wants to and does one interview a year to go along with his yearly new CD release. He has found a way to remain himself yet give the fans a piece of him as well. How do you get to be 60 years old and be better than ever at what you do? Depending on what chart you look at George has had between 55 and 60 number one songs. That is just amazing. There are more number ones to come as well. The classic cowboy is far from done. God bless you George and thank you for the music and man you are. Pure class.

His roots are in Texas. Strait grew up in Pearsall, TX. His father owned a a cattle ranch where summers and weekends were spent working with his brother and father. As any budding musician of that time would, Strait recounts listening to the Beatles as he was growing more and more interested in music. He even played in a rock and roll garage band in high school.

Strait has many honors under his belt. He has 60 number-one hits which classifies him as the artist with the most number-ones across all genres of music. Another accomplishment of his is recording 13 multi-platinum, 33 platinum, and 38 gold albums.

As a native Texan born in Nacogdoches, Derek has been involved in the performing arts scene for most of his adult life. He graduated from South Plains College with a degree in Performing Arts Production. As many aspiring country musicians do, Derek made his way to Nashville in order to find himself a record deal. As one may have noticed by now, Spence has an uncanny resemblance to George Strait, and that was the reason behind two record labels rejecting him.

Despite what would appear to be a setback, Spence continued to pursue music and wound up playing everywhere from college sporting events to the Grand Ole Opry. While at the Opry, he had the pleasure of sharing a stage with large acts such as Shania Twain, Diamond Rio, Trisha Yearwood, and Kenny Rogers. Even after having the honor of playing with such prominent country artists, Spence continues to play a variety of events and venues ranging from rodeos, bars, festivals, and even private parties as well.

Derek puts on more than just a tribute show. He is able to truly master and perform the music that any country-lover would enjoy; he has been playing and performing for most of his life and it shows. It is one thing to cover a George Strait song, but it is entirely another to perform it so well that the audience forgets they are at a tribute show. There are only a handful of tribute bands that accomplish that, and Spence falls into that category.

Even if you are not from the south, you are sure to love this country western band. They will bring back the George Strait hits from the eighties, nineties, and even his recent hits too. Derek and his backup band, Southern County Line, would be perfect for a work party as a corporate band, or even as a wedding band too.

The music of George Strait is timeless and classic; Derek and his Tribute to George Strait capture that into one amazing live performance that any audience is sure to love. Derek himself has said he sees people ranging from 21 to 75 in his audience, so the entire family is sure to love this performance. If you are not keen on George Strait, worry not! Spence has spent many years perfecting his impersonations of other country western artists such as Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings too.

George Strait and his backing band, Ace in the Hole, are among many popular country bands in the music scene. Since Strait himself has stopped touring, why not go out and see the next best thing? Derek Spence is part of one of the most entertaining live music bands for hire in Texas.

From having over 60 number one hits to now having the largest indoor attendance record, "The King of Country Music" sure has made a name that will forever be legendary and at the top of the list of country royalty.

Being in this business for 18 years has taught me that people love a good story, and, mostly, it is the hardest-hitting, juiciest and most drama-filled stories that make headlines. You don't have to be a marketing or journalism major to know that scandals sell magazines and generate the most web traffic.

I've never really understood -- or better yet, never have really cared enough about -- someone's personal issues that I want to know the entire story behind the rumors I have heard or read. When a celebrity couple breaks up or some scandalous photos hit Twitter, I've never been the kind of guy that really cares to know everything.

True, because of the nature of what I do for a living, I have to report the stories that are getting the biggest reaction and attention. A little behind-the-scenes info: I would rather report the stories about a person doing something positive rather than airing dirty laundry, which is often merely speculation or rumor. In reality, the positive stories rarely make the big splash and, sadly, never get much play in terms of reaction or interaction from fans/listeners/viewers.

So, how is it, then, that George Strait has been able reign at the top for over 30 years and (other than the death of his daughter in a car accident) has never been front page news of the tabloids? One word: CONSISTENCY.

George has been consistent both in music and in life. I've had the chance to meet Strait on a couple of occasions and have been a fan of his since I started listening to country music. After each meeting backstage with him, I always walk away thinking that he is quiet and humble and honest.

His music has remained the elite brand of country music since day one. What some writers/critics call "traditional" has been the signature sound -- album after album, single after single -- for Strait. The fact that he has had a hit song every year since his career started is all the proof needed that there is still room for the traditional style, even in today's world of country rock and hip-hop. Don't get me wrong, today's stars are incredible and have reached audiences that, when Strait got started, Nashville never dreamed possible.
