If you are going from Lion to Mountain Lion and you use RVM, you will probably need to reinstall ruby with the --with-gcc=clang flag.
I was having some issues trying to get a gem to install that has native extensions.
rvm reinstall 1.9.3-p194 --with-gcc=clang
