Hello,

Based on the survey responses, I see that most of those who took the
survey can make it today for our first meeting. If any of you need to
leave early to attend Ignite Boise, please feel free to do so.

Where: Boise State University, Micron Engineering Center, Room MEC
202J. (http://boisestate.edu/maps/BSU_CampusMap2011.pdf)

When: 6pm-7pm

Agenda:
- Introductions
- Discuss the prevalence of data visualization
- Look at a few data visualization examples in the real world
- Overview of new visualization toolkits
- Fix time and date for next meeting

Please call my office number if there are any issues with finding the
place. If you havent visited the MEC building before, please plan to
get here 10/15 minutes since it can be a bit of a maze. See you at
6pm.

Regards,

Hi Alark,
Looking forward to the meeting tonight. I'm sure you've heard about the location data just discovered that's being saved on the iPhones. Here's a link to an Engadget article ( http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/researchers-find-ios-4-records-your-location-in-system-file-syn/ ) with a video of the guys who found it and it's pretty interesting because they are data visualization guys who were just looking for interesting data on phones to plot and they stumbled on this previously unknown .db file. In the video they show their program that visualizes the data and it is pretty neat the way they can show concentrations of activity on a global view and then zoom in.
