Hang in there buddy. I, too, had a similar incident a few weeks back but like you I endured and covered the distance I had set out to cover that day. The humidity can be extremely tough on our bodies and I’ve focused on drinking plenty of fluids the day before and up to 30 minutes before I’ve set out on my long runs.
The good news, as you well know, is that you can begin taking fluids very early in the marathon before most of us get to the “spot” we put drinks out or stop at a store…..trust me, I’ve said more than one prayer that it will be cool and lower humidity. Looks like the weather up through the 21st for Washington is highs 65ish and lows 45-48…..that will help big time!
Again, you covered the distance buddy and your body knows that…………….you’re going to be fine come 8am on 10/25/09.
