Hello,
I am a resident at 211 Lindley Place, and also an employee of Gallatin County. It will be of interest to the affected property owners in the neighborhood that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is updating the Flood Insurance Rate Maps for Bozeman Creek and its tributaries. New Flood Insurance Rate Maps from this project are expected to be finalized in 2018 after a technical and public review process. Federal lenders will use the finalized maps to set insurance rates, and the owners of properties deemed ‘within the floodplain’ may be required to purchase flood insurance as a condition of their mortgage.
There is a nice informational website: http://dnrc.mt.gov/divisions/water/operations/floodplain-management/gallatin-county-floodplain-mapping-project that includes an interactive map viewer to view projected changes, and also a schedule of public open houses. However, questions from within the city limits should be directed to the City of Bozeman’s floodplain administrator, Brian Heaston, at bhea...@bozeman.net
