The City of Bozeman and MSU invites Bozeman residents to participate in Bozeman Clean Up 2011 on Saturday April 16, 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Bogert Park. Since 1989, Bozeman community groups and citizens have removed thousands of tons of trash from the streets of Bozeman during the spring Clean Up Bozeman event.
The Clean Up Bozeman initiative helps educate city residents about the impact of littering, gets them involved in the tremendous task of city-wide clean up, and allows people to become part of the community by participating alongside their neighbors. As we approach the 22nd year for Clean Up Bozeman, we want to remind citizens that “streets are streams” and clean water is closely tied to clean streets. Litter and debris in our parks, alleys, vacant lots, and streets end up in Bozeman Creek and the East Gallatin River.
Volunteers will meet at Bogert Park in Bozeman starting at 8:30 a.m. for supplies, maps, coffee and snacks (travel mugs encouraged!). After collecting waste and recyclables, volunteers are invited to return to the Bogert Park for a post cleanup party featuring free food for volunteers, live music, raffle prizes, and a showcase of local businesses and organizations who support a sustainable Bozeman.
The annual clean up is the opening event of the weeklong Gallatin Earth Celebration. If interested in exhibiting at the fair or learning more about the Gallatin Earth Celebration, visit www.montana.edu/gec/ .
