(un?)fortunately I think it's implemented as a PAM, so if it works
it'll be as secure as PAM modules are. The traffic to/from the NDS
server will be as secure as the user logins to NDS are, so there's not
a problem there...

Clemson University here in the US implemented something to do this
about a year before novell, and they also included authenticatio to
their MVS mainframe.
