"After a thorough examination of the 6 Paramitas, we move on to page 2-8 and a discussion of the necessity of dispelling the three obstacles of clinging to negative emotions with the accompanying negative imprints of these negative emotions and the karmic consequences that we have to experience."
"The antidote for these obstacles is to practice wisdom and skillful means together but Shamar Rinpoche says that before we can do this we need two preconditions, the first of which is the Bodhisattva Vow. The precondition for the Bodhisattva Vow is the Refuge Vow. Aside from the important step of taking these vows formally from a qualified preseptor, we need to integrate these vows until they become the driving force behind all our thoughts, words and actions. These two vows together have the potential to clarify and align our motivation to the enlightened motivation of Bodhicitta. Then there is the second precondition, not clinging to the “three spheres.” This is a way of pointing out the three areas we typically fixate on: ourselves, the others, and the action between the two and the necessity of relaxing this fixation. It is a very helpful way to make what is normally unconscious, conscious."
The text of the Samantabadhra Wishing Prayer can be downloaded from the Bodhi Path web site (http://www.bodhipath.org/sangcho_monlam/). Khaydroup will be using the text of Shamar Rinpoche’s commentary, which is available at Amazon and from other sources.

Online Teachings and Discussion with Khenpo Tsering
Dharma Mitra (known as Khenpo Tsering by students around the globe) has returned to California and will teach The Way of the Bodhisattva by Shantideva from beginning to end over the course of several months.
