Please identify this plant. Generally it is used for camouflage. The vitiligo lesions become dull if paste of the root is applied and the stain remains for 2 days.
I got the image from Sirsi, Karnataka.

Thank you

Dear Guru prasad ji,
Agree with others. This is Chitraka, Plumbago zeylanica L. , Plumbaginaceae
It is a very effective drug in the treatment of Shwitra (Leucoderma / Vitiligo).
Chitrakasavam, a naturally fermented alcoholic medicine, is indicated mainly in treating this condition. This also contains, Gomutra (cows urine), Trikatu (Ginger, Pepper & Long pepper) & Honey along with Chitraka the main ingredient.

Many Thanks & Regards

Dear Sirs,
Many many thanks for the identification.
We got a vitiligo patient, who was advised to apply the paste of root of this (chitraka) plant as camouflage. The vitiligo patches becomes dull for 2 days. The paste was prepared using water kept in copper vessel overnight. The doctor (or traditional healer?) also said that this plant has no medicinal properties. The patient used to apply the paste whenever she wants to attend public function.

Is there any references for chitraka, used as external application (vitiligo or other diseases)?

Thanks and regards
