Dear Naresh ji
thanks for the post & a warm welcome to the bodhi nighantu groups...
A number of Herbs & formulations are available for treating Alopecia,
But i would sincerely suggest the use of Citrullus colocynthis fruit, as i had seen this plant to be very useful The plant drug is named as Indravaaruni in Sanskrit, the fruits of which will be similar in texture  to Water melon, but the size of the fruit will be very small. The sliced fruits would be very bitter in taste and these sliced fruits are applied externally to treat Alopecia. It gives wonderful results
If you are looking for formulations, then a medicated oil named Maalatyadi Tailam works wonders in this disease. (This preparation is commonly available in the state of Kerala, it may be available if you have their outlets in your place).

Disclaimer: This is only for information purpose to share our experiences, but it is better consulting a herbal physician at your locality for a systematic treatment....

Dear Sir,
As a single drug i suggest you to use Dhattur patra (paste of Dhatura leaf in water) for local application for one month. before that Jalokavcharana should be done.

We also have the practice in Kerala of scraping the site of alopecia with shallots(small variety of onion) till the skin starts mildly oozing blood-something similar to prachanana. After which malathyadi oil is regularly applied. Seen to be very effective and fast in recovery.

dear doc s,
indralupta was my thesis work.
So i would like to share a few words here
as its told by susruta and vagbhata raktamokshana is the first line of treatment,
i had adopted a method of prachchanna i.e i used a simple surgical needle n pricked the lession to an extent that it bleeds , and then applied a drug by name Vana Dhanyaka, and i had a good results ...
my work had two groups one with prachchanna only and the other prachchanna followed by lepa,
but both groups din show great change in result indicating raktamokshana was impotrant more than lepa...
though vanadhanyaka is a rare drug we can opt for keshya dravyas as lepa is what i feel.
prachchanna was done once in a week for four times and then observed for results.
by the end of three months lesion size had reduced to a remarkable extent.
i hope i have conveyed a little about indralupta
waiting for your valuable comments.
