Good post Sheji ji. . .

A very important ingredient of the DASHAMOOLA DRAVYAS ( A group of ten
Roots). . .i would like to add further more photos to it. . .also
thanks for the medicinal details. . .it would have been better if the
explanations were in English so that it helps all in their perusal.

Thank you Dinesh ji for giving the Regional names. . .A small
correction, in Ayurveda this plant has been explained in the name
"Kaashmarya" actually...The term "Gambhari" was adopted as a name into
Ayurveda due to its familiarity among a tribal group in Bihar, who use
the term Gambhari for this plant

Thank You
Dr Hari

Dear members,

Gmelina arborea is called as Kaashmari or Kaashmarya in Ayurveda, you will never come across the term Gambhari in any of the texts of Ayurveda.

The Fruits:

The fruits of Gmelina arborea has been accredited under the “Madhura Triphala” or “Maha triphala”( A group of 3 sweet fruits).

Also the fruits have been told to be substituted in place of Draksha(VITIS VINIFERA) if it would not be available.

The fruits are Aphrodisiac, Rejuvenating, nourishes the tissues in the body

The leaf:

A text called “Anangaranga” explains about an oil which is prepared out of the leaves of Gmelina arborea, and applied externally to increase the size of Sthana (Breasts).

The Flowers:

Flowers are said to be Sangrahi (Astringents) and also increases Vaata in the body & so it has been explained to be used in a disease called Raktapitta (Bleeding through any of the Orifaces in the body)

The Bark:

The root bark is the officinal part of the drug in the group of DASHAMOOLAS, which is said to cure Inflammations.

Adulterants & Substitutes:
1. The stem bark is used as a common substitute in place of Root bark.

Which could be readily distinguished by its curved & Quill shape, lenticellate, rough, dark & Grey nature.

2.”Gmelina asiatica” is also substituted in place of the genuine samples., in South India

3. “Premna flavescens” is used as an adulterant of the genuine market material.

Thank You

Dr Hari Venkatesh K Rajaraman

Hari Ji
Thanks for appreciating my photographs. My camera is nothing in comparison to ones used by Dinesh ji, Satish Phadke ji and Garg ji. I have been asking them for tips. Mine is Digital SLR Sony alpha 100, with normal lens (16-72) and a telephoto-lens (72-315) which I use for Trees. For closeups I have simple extension tubes of various length, which I use in different combinations. My next target is Macro lens. Let us see when I acquire that.

Gurcharan ji, feeling very proud that my camera's status has got uplifted ... mine is DSLR "type" ... not true DSLR ... it is Panasonic Lumix DMC G1 with interchangeable lens --- 14 - 45 mm and 45 - 200 mm.
In other words, "Point and Shoot".

My yearning is for a macro lens ... alas, it costs more than sum total of camera body + 14 - 45 lens !!

Regards.

Dinesh hi
Yes Dinesh ji. My camera and accessories are all courtesy my son. Few months back I wrote to him about macro lens, but after he wrote back that a good one will will cost more than 40,000, I opted for extension tubes.
Yes I also have panasonic  Lumix DMC-ZS3 a compact handy camera with 25 mm wide lens, 12x AVCHD lite and HD. It has 10.3 mexapixel lens but I love and use it for HD video recording. I have bought a 8 gb card, and it really gives very good video. I have almost forgotten using my handycam (again Sony).

Thank You Sheji ji & Veena ji for pointing out my mistake. . .i admit that. . .Actually i have the habit of typing the material in word documents when i will be free. .. in that context  i was searching for a phrase in English to convey the meaning of BRUHATRAYEE. . .with a dilemma i was typing, confused whether to use the term Major Classical triads or 3 major lexicons of Ayurveda. . .then simply had thought to edit it later, added a simple phrase and i forgot to edit it while posting which is a great mistake i understand. . .
Actually till the Nighantu Kala the term Gambhari was not used in any of the texts. . .it was after the familiarity of this drug in an Ethnic group in the regions of the Present Bihar state, the local name became very familiar and was adopted by the Nighantu writers in their texts. . .there are such so many examples we could state where the local names have got changed into classical names. . .

Thanks for the pointing it out...i will promise to take utmost care while typing it in future

Thank you Guru ji for sharing your Camera details. . .i think your camera kit would be too heavy to carry. . .with all those materials. . .anyways interesting to hear. .. Sony Alpha 100k is a good selection. . .I am also crazy about Macro lenses. . .wish you all the best to acquire a good Macro lens at the earliest. . .

Thank you Dinesh ji too. . . i was aware of your Panasonic camera long back through Dr Brijesh, both of us had seen your photographs in FLICKER a few months back. . .also i happened to see a few in Bodhi groups when he had added T.cordifolias inflo. . . this camera too gives good results i agree. . .
