Like many other people I had the Z-Axis change position on  me during cutting. I greased the rod, replaced it with 5/16 18 tpi and new brass nuts ( the original mechanism). I continued to have a issue. I had problems with just homing the system. I increased the current on the motor driver, with no effect.
I just changed the threaded rod with an Acme thread 8 mm 200 mm long lead screw I bought from Amazon for $9  ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B63CVSJ/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  ). I also got 2 Anti-backlash spring loaded T8 Nuts for $8  ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077XCC994/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). I had to change the  Z-axis machine settings to 400 steps per mm and everything works fine, so far. The system is much quieter and smoother action.
I had to dremel the slot and widen the upper nut clearance, and file the flats  on the end. I also cut off one of the long ends of one of the spare nuts to make a nut to hold the bearing, which fits beautifully. The Z-axis motor does not wobble like it did before. I held the nut in the slot with wire through one of the holes, but this seems to work much better.
I've attached pictures of my assembly.

I'm interested in anybody's response. The Bob's CNC has such great potential and I've really enjoyed learning the CNC process and using it.

I cant open my ugsplatform. I think it may have to do with the fact that my husband decided to update java. I am in freak out mode because I need to create something for a client and now I can not open the program to carve. Help!!
Thanks

Try to reinstall it again.  Please see the attached file.

Also, It sounds like you may need to clear the cache. Please see here for help clearing the cache: https://support.bobscnc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008660133-Clearing-the-Cache-in-UGS With newer versions the .ugsplatform will be in the same directory as the .ugs

This is the classic version. We recommend the Platform version.

Please see the attached df for help with setup.

Do you have java blocked with a virus software?

Also, use the dropdown to select a port then change the baud rate to 115200

It wont stay open long enough for me to do that. My husband checked the virus blocking programs and he said that they are not blocking java.

Oh and the baud is already set to that. I could see it in the second that it was open

Delete the program, clear the cache and then install the program again.  If that does not work you might need to ask the folks that produce UGS.

Or you can try the platform version. Please see the attached pdf.

Looks like you have installed the incorrect firmware. Please reinstall the firmware using the E4_flash.bat file.
