When you use F-Engrave you have a choice of clicking on Engrave or V-carve at the bottom of the screen.  What is the difference and when do you use each of them?

Thanks in advance

With the Engrave setting, you set the Z depth. With the vcarving setting, the depth is set by the width of the line. You will need a Vbit for this type of engraving.
