Hey all,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. As I'm thinking about how our team is doing, and what we are going to do next week, I keep thinking of the idea of the big leap. To me, this means the time that everyone buckles down, figures out what needs improvement, and improves it immediately. We'd be making the big leap from regular instruction to high-quality instruction, planning and management. I think, for us, that Week 3 can be our big leap if we work purposefully and relentlessly this week. I see us making that big leap this week. Let's do it team.
A few items to start the week:
1-Extended and brief observations will be happening again. Most will happen early in the week. In addition, this week, I will be giving you a snapshot of where you fall on the different strands of the TAL rubric,. That snapshot--which lists your proficiencies on all of the strands graded at Institute--is used by Cook and Institute as a whole to strategically plan the last 2 weeks of instruction. It should be used by you to target particular areas for growth, too.
The observation schedule is below. Note that most meeting times don't have locations--if we're at school, meet in my cma room at that time. If we're at school, we'll be in touch individually about the location.
If any times don't work, please ask me questions.
2-Sam (the deep-voiced singer) told me to remind you guys to get observations stations in order. This week, we'll have visitors from regions as diverse as Brazil (oh my), Atlanta, GNO, and Memphis, so we want to show off how fresh and clean we are. Keep them clean and orderly. Hole-punch.m
3-I want us to really bring it in behavior management this week. So I'm really looking forward to seeing all the strong investment strategies you all planned for this week being unveiled and used to boost the culture of achievement. In addition, I'm really looking to see the behavior management cycle in play this week. Remember the three steps:
1-Give explicit directions (after getting attention)
2-Narrate positive behavior (Neutral, at least 2)
3-Give corrective action quickly and firmly as needed
