Hi,
We are using Bobo for faceting in our project and we are quite happy with that.
Unfortunately one of the issues we have been experiencing during the last year or so is some delay in keeping Bobo library effectively compatible with the latest version of Lucene.
Most of the times we cannot benefit of major Lucene improvements (as in the new version 4.x) as Bobo has a dependency to an older version.

This is a crucial aspect in adopting Bobo in a production environment, so I was wondering whether you can provide users with some indications about future plans/priorities and scheduled new releases of Bobo in this sense.

Many thanks,
Silvano

Hi Silvano:

Lucene 4.0 is a major release and many api's have changed. We are working on the upgrade as a top priority for this project.

There are many features Lucene 4.0 has added that can help improve bobo greatly. We want to take advantage of these features.

Thanks

-John

Great to hear. I really hope smart reloading of Bobo facets is part of this (including adds, not just deletes), although it should be relatively easy to implement this on top of lucene 3.x also (just not for me).

That work has been completed. We are at the late stages of testing and working on a release.

That's great news. Is it possible to take a peek at the code and test run it?

We upgraded to Lucene 4.3.

But 4.4 should be easy, we might do that before the release.

This is compatibility migration, we have yet worked features that leverage the coolings added to Lucene 4.x, e.g. codecs and DocValue fields.

Stay tuned.
