For the better part of the past 2-3 years, me and my family have been targets by cheaters/spoofers in our local area. My wife and I are collecting gold gym medals (especially gyms we created on forest trails and such) and the rest of the family just enjoy playing together. The cheaters/spoofers always take down gyms we are defending, and they leave them empty/white after they are done. They do so at speeds that are not humanly possible (especially between trail markers in forests with steep 60m high hills). There are several other players in our local community who have experienced the same situation we have. All of us have sent numerous in-game reports over the past 2 years, with screenshots and photo evidence of spoofing happening in gyms at remote locations while we were there. As a response, the chatbot always thanks me for my report and promises "We take these matters seriously, and your reports are critical to keeping Pokmon Go welcoming for everyone", yet this blatant cheating continues to this day. This type of toxic cheating behaviour has sucked the fun out of the game and, more importantly, wayfarer for us. My family and I take pride in the 1300+ wayspots we have gotten accepted successfully ever since Pokemon Go players got access to the submission process, but I think all of us are done with wayfarer if nothing changes.
I am certain we aren't the only players who are experiencing this. Since Niantic has taken a stronger stance against abuse in Wayfarer I feel like it's time for a big change in their attitude towards in-game cheating as well.
For the exact locations, video/photo proof of the cheating/spoofing I would like to ask anyone from the Niantic staff to DM me. There has to be someone at Niantic who can fix this situation. Please help us regain the fun of exploring the world for more good quality wayspots."
Since Niantic keeps on mishandling their anti-cheating efforts maybe The Pokmon Company should step up and force them to take action. I know there are quite a few players in my local area who are fed up with all the spoofing happening here on a daily basis.
You see I live in Cambridge UK and am a hardcore player! Yet team Mystic has taken over with many level 8-10 Gyms. I thought that Mystic were doing a better job and have been happily content with trying to find a way to combat this. Finally after months of searching I have found 3 bubble defenders and an attacker to prestige 1000 at a time. They were harder to find than my only dragonite that I evolved by walking from a Dragon air. I made it my mission to attack the level 10 gyms in my area and wait for Valor to claim them then I prestige for all my worth and waited every day until eventually they filled up and job done. So proud!!!!
Except one time as I was prestiging a gps spoofer cheat started taking a gym down so I prestige spammed as fast as I could and fought him off. Not bad as it was just me! Since then he has been trying to turn my patch back to Mystic from the comfort of his couch ( BTW I'm sure as has happened hundreds of times with no one around). I'm not to bothered dispite losing every gym but by watching I can see that he does it all over the city.
Basically he attacks a gym puts a low level mon then waits if it stays blue he puts his main account mons in latter that week if not does the same every day until it's Blue then moves on to the next gym. Which is easy if you just sit at home and constantly knock a gym down instead of having to walk there every time.
In doing this he has it seems to me spoilt the game in Cambridge and surroundings for everyone. Off course the center of the city changes colours as there are too many players for this to work. He concentrates on the surrounding area and even the burbs!
Any ideas on how to stop a guy with lots of accounts and the ability to teleport anywhere with lots of time?
The funny thing is my in game name is CrazyRedWind and he has changed one of his many accounts to Crazyredcheat. I have heard that if you report someone 3 times they get banned the irony is he has so many accounts could he get me banned even though I play straight?
Just got some likely yellow team spoofers here. Ugh. I wouldn't report someone unless I knew for sure. This sounds obvious although, sounds like mixed results happen when reporting in these cases. If possible I'd try to fight them in the gym as much as possible, if they spoofers they will give up and look for easier targets
Tbh I will fight this guy for a while to give Niantic a chance to catch him. The strange thing is that I have put so much effort in fighting the last few weeks that he has fought back so much in my area it seems the other teams are slowly starting to gain ground In other areas as he has neglected the rest of the city. However I will not do this forever. Life is to short.
This problem seems as a big impact for the future of the game. I'm afraid that there is not effective way to fight cheaters. As you say, for them is easy to take down gyms from the comfort of their coach, while you have to walk into the rain and the cold to collect a few coins.
I fear that it is also what happens in my area. There is/was a multi account player called t4tanvir (valor)/t4tanvir90 (instinct) who seems to also be a spoofer. I witnessed him taking down a gym in the middle of a natural park while nobody was around (a couple of times). He disappears and comes back every so often.
Another suspected spoofer in my area, called avaviki (instinct), has moved from taking gyms in populated areas of the city to only take remote gyms in the natural reserve.
I used to walk/cycle 10-20km in the natural reserve to collect as many gyms as possible. But these two guys plus another possible spoofer (MsDiggernick, instict) made it impossible. Their response was so quick (even at odd times of the day) that as soon I had taken 2-3 of their gyms they started to retake them. It would take me 20 mins to walk/cycle between gyms, but they took them all back in 5-10min once started. So, I gave up the area and focus on training up friendly gyms.
Our only hope is that they tire of the game and quit.
I feel your pain, I only wish there were some friendly gyms to train up in my area. Sometimes I get one but it never lasts long while blue ones stay untouched for months. Even worse for instinct! It amazes me how one player can affect the game so much. Luckily he has not figured out how to bubble start or else all would be lost.
I'm a fellow Mystic player in your area that you might recognise (TheConzor) - I live in the Stranmillis area and notice all 3 of the players you mentioned take gyms at very strange times. Avaviki is also in virtually every instinct gym in town and I've seen her first-hand place a pokemon in the Botanic Gardens gym after it's closed. One time I was walking home from uni, taking three or four gyms along the way and minutes after I beat each of them my pokemon would come back to me fainted. I'd check the gym and she'd be in it following me the whole way but at no point was anyone behind me. She seems to knock down level 10 Mystic gyms on her own one after the other too, who has the time and patience for that!? MsDiggernick isn't as bad and won't touch the high level mystic gyms but it's just annoying because I could be getting 60-70 coins a day if it wasn't for avaviki constantly kicking me out of gyms all across the city. I have lectures at the Royal Hospital and also walk along the embankment into town sometimes so I get around Belfast and she's omnipresent. She owns well over 10 gyms already, why does she need to deprive the legitimate players of coins!? She's either discovered teleportation or a big ol' spoofer.

I'm also a spoofers counter. I've been doing this for a long time.
You can fight the spoofer with Bubblestrat or other strategies, but to solve the problem fundamentally, the way to go is to report.
Does reporting works? Did Niantic really ever ban cheaters' accounts?
Fortunately, the answer is YES!
But you need solid evidence. One of my methods is 'speed test'. It's quite simple: if he puts his mons into two gyms within seconds, then we're sure that he's a spoofer. And you need to screen record the whole process on your phone (by clicking two gyms often).
Sorry for noob question but how do I record a video on iphone while playing the game. I drove my girlfriend to a gym and waited but he took the gym after 5 mins of taking the first one. All the while ? with her phone. Needless to say she thought I was mad!

You cannot record your screen on an iPhone. Screen recorders are not allowed in the appstore. You will have to jailbreak your phone then that will prevent you from playing the game and voiding your warranty in the process.
There are 2 kind of spoofers.
- the one in a contested area, where each team is fighting for it's territory.
- the one in areas with a leading team. This one is going to use 2 or more accounts and will kick out the pokemons of others to add his pokemon. Most likely gyarados or rhydons since they have a lot of CP.
In any case If we are supposed to record/take a ton of pictures to ban somebody who can do the samething a few days after being banned, this is absolutely useless.
I have just watched a video on youtube, the guy had like 800/1000 pokemon with 100% IV. On his Chanel he is proud to record his 100% pokemon evolutions. It's exactly like evolving pidgeys for him.
And he shows the proof that every pokemon is 100% IV showing the appraisal.
What can stop a spoofer to hunt perfect pokemons and then destroy every gym without an end?
Cheaters don't have their IP adress banned, they only have their account banned.
And even If you ban the IP, they are going to use VPNs...
The only thing Niantic can do is ensure their data is safe and that no application/cheat can steal their data.
Because spoofers can spoof on some area since they have the information where is this arena, and this one, and this one too.
Nobody would memorize grid squares on a map with coordinates of the different areas... every information about the location of gyms and/or pokemon is on Niantic serveurs...
It is their responsability to protect their datas...
