All please see the following message from Nancy Westbrook! Thanks! Mark

Hi there fellow swimmers and YMCA fans –

It’s that time of year again – the Bob Sierra YMCA is asking for your help to provide funding for the many scholarships they provide to children, families and adults who are not able to afford the YMCA programs that are so important and beneficial.  I know that each of you is already a believer in the benefits of fitness, training, education and having a support system to keep you motivated. After all, that is how we all got to know each other!! And, many of you also enroll your kids and other family members in the Y programs – so you get it, right??

But you may not know  the scope of Y programs that  are offered at a low/no cost rate to kids, families and adults who otherwise couldn’t afford them – and many of these programs are LIFE CHANGING for those folks. And… 100% of the donations you make to this campaign go directly to our local recipients….. so you can see the benefits right here on the gym floor, in the pool and on the sports fields at our Bob Sierra YMCA.

Here are a few examples of how the Bob Sierra YMCA is impacting real people in our community through your donations:

  • 31 cancer survivors participated in the LIVESTRONG recovery fitness program
  • 66 individuals participated in the Diabetes prevention program
  • 329 children received free or reduced swimming lessons and water safety classes
  • 25% of our 11,000+ members receive some type of financial assistance at some point
  • $144,000 was provided to kids enrolled in our summer camps and after school programs which provide a safe and supportive environment for learning life skills and having fun

So I ask you to please reflect on your own life – perhaps you had to ask for some help at some point in your life, or knew someone who did – the YMCA can be a lifeline to those people. If you have never been in that position, be thankful! If you are able, I ask you to please consider supporting the 2017 YMCA Annual Giving campaign – your donations are tax deductible, and will help your local community.

Please click on the link below to donate electronically – if you would note my name in the comments (Nancy Westbrook) I would appreciate it – any amount is fine!! If you prefer to pay with another method, just email me and we’ll work it out –

Thanks again – and happy swimming!

Nancy Westbrook
