Here are the details for May 2019 at Boaters.

=====
Sunday 5th May - Torus

Torus was originally formed by bassist Mick Sexton in the 1980's to celebrate the music of that period. The band reformed in 2011 for a series of very successful gigs and so it's always a pleasure to welcome them back to Boaters. Their repertoire includes timeless classics by the likes of Steps Ahead, Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea. The line up tonight features saxophonist Mornington Lockett, pianist Alex Hutton, drummer Gary Wilcox, and founding member Mick Sexton on double bass.

=====
Sunday 12th May - Mark Nightingale

Mark is probably the finest trombone player of his generation. His prodigious talent was recognised at the age of 15 when he won the Don Lusher award, and soon after he became the lead trombonist in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has firmly established himself on the international jazz scene, and has worked with such American greats as Clark Terry, Lee Konitz and George Shearing, as well as stepping in at the last minute to play with Steely Dan on a UK tour. Completing the line up are Simon Carter on piano, Laurence Cottle on bass and drummer Dave Ohm.

=====
Sunday 19th May - Sumudu

Sumudu is a multi talented singer and songwriter who has been featured in a number of high profile TV concerts including the Millennium countdown celebrations, and performed the song 'Alfie' in a tribute concert for Burt Bacharach and Hal David at The Royal Albert Hall. Recently, she has been providing backing vocals, keyboards and percussion for Van Morrison, and has also worked with Jason Rebello, Jacob Collier and Shaun Escoffrey. Joining her this evening are Simon Carter (piano), Steve Pearce (bass) and Pat Levett (drums).

=====
Sunday 26th May - Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion

Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion refreshes the blues genre with mostly self-penned material, hugely original arrangements and virtuosic playing. The band's live set is described as rootsy with strong, catchy riffs and exciting grooves. Vocalist Zoe's dynamic and commanding delivery is both eclectic and suave at the same time, suggesting a cocktail of influences from Janis Joplin, to Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. The band also features Rob Koral on guitar, Pete Whittaker on Hammond Organ and drummer Andy Chapman. Gareth Hayes, of Rock n Reel Magazine wrote "... this is gorgeous music that grips and caresses in equal measure." They have been nominated in the British Blues Awards several times so expect genuine blues flavours with sophistication and swing.
