Sunday 2nd June - Martin Shaw

Martin is one of the UK's most stylish trumpeters, as much in demand for his fluid, lyrical jazz playing as for his for pop and funk horn section work. He is a featured soloist with The BBC Big Band and has also appeared with British legends such as Cleo Laine and Pete King. In the commercial field Martin has played with Jamiroquai, Rumer, Matt Bianco and French songstress Patricia Kaas. He appears tonight with Simon Carter (piano), Alec Dankworth (bass) and Clark Tracey on drums.

Sunday 9th June - Frank Griffith Quartet

Born in the USA, Frank lived in New York between 1980 and 1996 where he worked with Ron Carter, Jack McDuff, Buddy Rich and Mel Torme to name but a few. A tenor saxophonist, Frank leads ensembles of varying sizes including his own big band. He is highly regarded for his composition and arranging skills, and is also one of the major jazz educators in the UK. Tonight he leads his own quartet with Nigel Price (guitar), Pete Whittaker (organ) and Les Cirkel (drums).

Sunday 16th June - Dave O'Higgins

A regular visitor to Boaters, Dave is a tenor saxophonist with exceptional fluency whose playing is full of melodic development and adventure. His influences reflect the history of modern jazz, from Dexter Gordon and John Coltrane through to Stanley Turrentine and Michael Brecker. Completing the line up are Simon Carter (piano), Flo Moore (bass) and Tristan Mailliott (drums).

Sunday 23rd June - Jim Mullen

Jim is a sublime guitarist of international renown who made his name on the jazz funk scene of the 1970's and 80's, playing with the Average White Band and co-leading the legendary Morrissey Mullen Band. He has also played with some of the most famous names in jazz such as Jimmy Witherspoon, Mose Allison and Georgie Fame. Tonight, Jim is joined by Simon Carter on piano, Laurence Cottle on bass and drummer Dave Ohm.

Sunday 30th June - Jacqui Hicks

Jacqui is one of the UK's most stylish jazz and soul vocalists, well known for her long-term association with Shakatak, and, more recently, one quarter of The Boaters Project album that showcases new arrangements of songs by Jacqui's favourite artists, such as Stevie Wonder, James Taylor and Chaka Khan. She is joined tonight by fellow Boaters Project band mates Simon Carter on piano, Phil Mulford on bass and Frosty Beedle on drums.
