Here are the details for October 2019 at Boaters. Don't forget that October is the 29th anniversary of this fantastic free weekly jazz gig so please come along one Sunday and raise a glass (or two) with us.

=====
Sunday 6th October - O'Higgins & Luft Play Monk and Trane

This gig marks an exciting new collaboration between saxophonist Dave O'Higgins and guitarist Rob Luft. Dave is an established star of the British jazz scene and Rob is an award-winning musician from London who has been described as one of the UK's most prominent and talented young contemporary jazz guitarists. A joint love of the music of John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk sparked a musical chemistry which has resulted in a new album and a major UK tour of which tonight's gig is a part of. They are joined by Irish organ player Scott Flanigan and American drummer Rod Youngs.

=====
Sunday 13th October - Derek Nash

Derek is one of the most popular saxophonists in Britain. He is the leader of the award winning group Sax Appeal, and is also a member of Jools Holland's Band with whom he has toured all over the country and made countless TV appearances. You can expect a great selection of jazz funk classics and original compositions that are guaranteed to raise the roof! Completing the line up are Simon Carter on keyboards, Winston Blissett on bass and Nic France on drums.

=====
Sunday 20th October - Mornington Lockett

This gig with Mornington traditionally marks the anniversary celebrations. He is undoubtedly one of the finest tenor saxophonists this country has to offer and one of the most popular visitors to Boaters, having appeared here more times than any other guest since the gig began in 1990. Over the years he has been a member of Ronnie Scott's band, the Jim Mullen Quartet, and more recently "Celebrating the Jazz Couriers". The line up is completed by Laurence Cottle on bass, drummer Ian Thomas and pianist Simon Carter.

=====
Sunday 27th October - Sumudu Jayatilaka

Sumudu is a multi talented singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist who has been featured in a number of high profile TV concerts including the Millennium countdown celebrations, and a tribute to Burt Bacharach and Hal David at The Royal Albert Hall. Recently, she has been providing backing vocals, keyboards and percussion for Van Morrison, and has also worked with Jason Rebello, Jacob Collier and Shaun Escoffrey. Joining her this evening are Rob Updegraff (guitar), Simon Carter (piano), Steve Pearce (bass) and Pat Levett (drums).
