Happy New Year. Here are the details for January 2018 at Boaters.

=====
Sunday 7th January - Tim Whitehead

One of the major voices in British jazz, both as a saxophonist and a composer, Tim has appeared in such groups as "Looses Tubes" and Ian Carr's "Nucleus", as well as leading several different projects under his own name. His style can encompass all aspects of modern jazz and his eclectic collaborations have seen him work with some of the UK's major artists and poets. He was the first ever musician Artist in Residence at Tate Britain where he was commissioned to research and compose music in response to the work of JMW Turner. Tonight, he is joined by Simon Carter on piano, bassist Chris Dodd and drummer Nic France.

=====
Sunday 14th January - Jacqui Hicks

Jacqui is one of the UK's most stylish jazz and soul vocalists, well known for her long term association with Shakatak, and, more recently, one quarter of The Boaters Project album which showcases new arrangements of songs by Jacqui's favourite artists, such as Stevie Wonder, James Taylor and Chaka Khan. She is joined tonight by fellow Boaters Project band mates Simon Carter on piano, Phil Mulford on bass, plus special guest Neal Wilkinson on drums.

=====
Sunday 21st January - Alex Garnett

Quite simply put, Alex is one of the most swinging saxophone players you will hear in the United Kingdom. Fluent on tenor or alto, his style is firmly rooted in the bebop and post bop eras of the 50's and 60's, and he is regularly to be found at Ronnie Scott's hosting the late night jam sessions. Joining him tonight are Alex Bryson on piano, Dario De Lecce on double bass and drummer Matt Home.

=====
Sunday 28th January - The Knights of Shame

The Knights return to Boaters, bringing their foot tapping flavour of vintage soul, funk and infectious grooves with them. Featuring songs by the likes of Gil Scott-Heron, Curtis Mayfield and Bobby Womack, the band is led by singer and guitarist Andy Caine, who is ably supported by Adam Goldsmith on guitar, Simon Carter on keyboards, Steve Pearce on bass and drummer Ian Thomas. This is an evening not to be missed!
